[Opinions] Cecily/Cecilia/Cecile
I have an aging aunt named Cele (pronounced Seal), and in our family, when someone dies, it is traditional to name a new baby after the deceased relative. I love her very much, and I would love to name a baby after her. Which of these variants sounds best?Cecily
Cecilia
Cecile
Celia
CicelyAlso, I would like to use the name Anne as a middle name... I like it with Cecily, but what about Cecilia Anne? Is that too hard to say? What middle names would work with your *favorite* choice from above?SIDE NOTE EDIT: I also love the Simon and Garfunkel song "Cecilia." You should listen to it... it's awesome. :-D This is one reason I might lean slightly towards Cecilia... but then I can't use Anne!!!

Cecilia is my favourite, and I think it's beautiful. What about Anna Cecilia? I've always thought that combo is stunning.Cecilia Anne doesn't have the greatest of flows, but there's nothing wrong with it, and I think it's rather elegant.

Anna Cecilia is GORGEOUS!! Only thing is... I was kind of set on using Cecily/Cecilia/Cecile/etc. as the first name... idk.But wow! You're right, that is stunning!

I think Cecilia Anne is gorgeous. I don't think it's hard to say in the least. I love Cecily, Celia, and Cecilia all so much that I can't really choose one, but I also adore the Simon & Garfunkel song. And just to be able to sing that to your daughter (and drive her crazy with it when she's older! lol) would be so much fun.

I like Celia Anne and Cecilia Anne the best. They sound fine together.

Cecily is my favorite of those names, followed by Cecilia.Cecily Anne is one of my favorite Cecily combos. These are also on my list...Cecily Delphine
Cecily Josephine
Cecily June
Cecily Margaret
Cecily Marigold
Cecily Pearl

I like *a lot* Cecily June. Someone else suggested Cecily Blue, which I also like. Idk if it's the "oo" sound...? Anyway, thanks!

Cecily is so beautiful and ready for a comeback, so I would say go with that. Cecilia Anne isn't impossible to say, but the two As do run together a bit. Lovely combo!

I absolutely think it's ready for a comeback, lol. It amazes me that more people haven't used it! Especially with the longer, flowery names coming back into style (Isabella, Liliana, etc.).

I love Cecilia the best.

I like Celia, Cecilia, and Cicily (I like the latter the best). I think Anne would ony work with Cicily/Cicely or Cecile because the 'a' at the end of the FN and beginning of the MN is a little too much of a mouthful. Here are some combos for Cicily off the top of my head:Cecily Adelajda (ah-de-LIE-dah)
Cecily Adelle
Cicily Alexandria/dra
Cecily Anne
Cecily Aurelia
Cecily Beatrise
Cecily Blue
Cecily Carys/Karis
Cecily Daniela
Cecily Guinevere
Cicily Iliana
Cicily Isobel
Cicily Joelle
Cicily Liliana
Cicily Milena
Cicily Rose
Cicily Willow
Hoped this helped.

Oh, I just fell in love with Cecily Blue. What about Cecilia Blue? Maybe... that is such a cool middle name!

I love Cele. This is the first time I've heard it but I have a thing for unusual names. Its short and spunky which I love. Its very unsual and I think its a nice alternative to Celia. I like Celia and Cecilia best but I think Cecily flows best with Anne as the mn.

Thanks! I also love Cecilia lots and lots... but with Anne it sounds weird. That's my problem. I reeeeeeeally want to use Anne with SOMETHING, but it doesn't go with my other favorite name (Olivia). Huh.What do you think, if anything, would go with Cecilia as a mn? I have some relatives I want to use... maybe...Bessie (don't like this, but maybe a variant?)
Anne
Alice
Kelly
Lillian
Pauline (meh, haven't found a variant I like yet)
Helen (don't like this, but maybe a variant)
Estelle (ditto)
Ruth (ditto)
Elaine
Sadie
Ola (this is where I got Olivia)
Wilma (maybe Willow?)
Jacob (I can use a bunch of these... Jay, Jane, etc.)WDYT? If it's not *too* time-consuming... :-D

What about Celia/Cecilia Helene?

Meh...I really dislike Helene. Helen in any name is not attractive to me. I'm thinking variants like... Lena, Olena, etc.

Me too. I chose Cecilia as my confirmation name ten years ago and I've loved it since then. Cecilia Anne just doesn't flow well because of the As at the end of Cecilia and at the beginning of Anne. Anne Cecilia flows very well, in my opinion. Not sure whether you wanted to use that as a mn, though.Willow Cecilia makes an awesome combo. And Willow Anne. I love, love, love Willow. Lillian Cecilia's fab, too! Helen Cecilia's very pretty and classy sounding, IMO. Those are the ones I loved but here's a few more suggestions using the names you listed:Kelly Anne
Estelle Anne
Sadie Anne
Bessie Anne (maybe Elizabeth or Bethany with Bessie as a nn?)
Pauline Anne
Olivia Anne (I think this makes a beautiful combo and Liv or Livia would make great nns, in my opinion)
Pauline Cecilia
Ruth Cecilia
Elaine Cecilia
Ola Cecilia
Wilma Cecilia

Ooh, I like Willow Anne! I like that a lot!Lillian Cecilia has too many syllables for me... idk. Just a little weird to say. I really wanted to use the C name as a first name. Thanks so much for those suggestions! they're fantastic!

Cecily is by far my favorite. It's beautiful and underused. Cecily Anne sounds great!
vote up1
That's what I thought... it's not used enough! :-)I also adore the name Olivia (after deceased great-aunt Ola), but it is SO COMMON. I hate that. But I'd still use it. Lol...

I was going to say Cecily to begin with and I think Cacily Anne is beautiful.

I think Cicely Anne works best, but I prefer Cecelia or Celia. But if your naming the child after her, why not Ceale Anne?
vote up1
Well, I'm just not a fan of the name "Cele" straight up. Otherwise, I would.

fair enough :) luckily she does have some beautiful variants!

Lol, I think so too.
