Both DH and DW were competitive figure skaters, DH competing for Italy while DW competed for the USA. They have known each other for years, bumping into each other at competitions but really hit things off only once DW retired from the circuit three years ago, with DH following her suit a year later. DH is now building his name as a pair coach while DW stayed connected to skating as a costumer designer. They were married last summer in Verona and plan to stay in Italy for a while.
