WDYT of Miriam?
Miriam is growing on me. WDYT of Miriam? Is it too old fashioned to use? What combos would be best?

I really love this name. I love the fact that it's biblical and I really like the sound of it. My only problem with the name is the meaning. If it was certain that it meant "Wished for child", "Beloved", or "Loved", then I'd be set. Most of the time it is said to mean "Sea of bitterness" or "Rebelliousness" and I hate both of those meanings.

I really like Miriam. It strikes me as very Jewish, although the only Miriam I knew was a schoolfriend and she was Muslim. (Officially she spelt it Maryam, but she said Miriam and often wrote it that way too.) She left the country at 16 to marry a much older man in Pakistan so I get a sad / worried twinge when I hear the name.OK, I digress! Some combos ...Miriam Alexandra
Miriam Bethany
Miriam Chloe
Miriam Hope
Miriam Jessica
Miriam Juliette
Miriam Louisa
Miriam Octavia
Miriam Olivia

It's a favorite.I don't see it as old-fashiioned, but that doesn't really bother me. (Brian is old-fashioned to me). Miriam is a heavy name, rich with history and meaning. It needs something to balance that, but not detract. I see Miriam with a middle name such as Helen or even Judith. However, your taste is quite different from mine. I would suggest Miriam Lily for you. ( My Miriam would most likely be Miriam Helen, after a very powerful woman in my life.)

Miriam has long been one of my favorites. I think it does sound old fashioned, which is part of the reason I like it so much. Though it's not on your top names list, I'm fond of Miriam Esther. From your list, I like Miriam Charlotte quite a bit.
