Vera pronunciation
Hi all!How do you pronounce the name Vera? I've heard it either VEER-AH or VER-AH. My DH and I are considering this as an option for our baby (don't know the sex yet). Also what middle names would you pair with it?Thanks in advance

I would pronounce it VER-AH but I am from New Zealand so I wouldn't take my advice, its probably different to your area.
I think its a great name and I would consider it myself but maybe as a nickname for Veronica. Some people say it's too old lady but I think it's ready for a comeback. I think it fits well with popular names like Ava, Eva, Aria. I also really like that the Albanian meaning is summer.I think it should have a strong middle name because it is quite floaty and whimsical. The middle names I would personally pair it with are:Vera Mae
Vera Penelope
Vera Genevieve
Vera Geneva
Vera Quinn
Vera Meredith
Vera Josephine
Vera Clementine
Vera Eloise
Vera Juliette
Vera Madeline
Vera Temperance

I've only heard it pronounced as VEER-ah, as in Vera Bradley or Vera Wang, but I think it's rather ugly and jarring said that way. If I hadn't heard it before and only saw it on paper, I'd think it was pronounced VER-ah (rhyming with Sarah). I like that better.

I've only ever heard Veera in real life, though some on BTN say they say it Vay-ra, and I guess if somebody was Russian or something that's the way they would say it.I don't like Vera but if I was going to use it I'd want to use Vera Lynn, like the old-time singer who's sort of had a revival lately.
