Some Girl Names On My Mind
Replies
Amber - I don't know why but I've never been a fan of Amber. It's a pretty name in theory but I almost always find it too unsophisticated.
Nicole - plain and normal name, nothing special to me.
Gillian - depending on pronunciation I really like this name! It's uncommon without being too out there.
Talia - I think this one is very pretty and a pleasant change when you meet someone with this name, I haven't met very many Talias.
Lauren - pretty name, but again common and unoriginal to me.
Annalise - not a fan of this one, I love the names Anna and Elise but together they almost seem too much.
Violet - I might be biased since this is my favourite name for a girl, but I think this name is absolutely lovely.
Peridot - very unique but not my taste.
Tatum - too masculine for a girl in my opinion. Plus when I hear this name all I think think of is Channing Tatum, not that it's a bad thing but not I'm not sure that you want that association with a name hehe.
Gretchen - I've always found Gretchen to be unappealing, I think it's because of the similar sounding "wretching", gross association.
Olivia - boring and altogether too popular, this one is way overdone and that almost negates how pretty of a name it is.
Paige - I love this spelling and this name, so lovely.
Penelope (Penny) - I love Penelope, not a fan of Penny.
Elina - eh I'm not too keen on this one, I much prefer the similar Eliana, Elina just seems incomplete to me.
Leah - this name is alright, not my favourite though I prefer the spelling Lea.
Nicole - plain and normal name, nothing special to me.

Amber I LOVE this name, but it's been ruined by popularity.
Nicole Boring and dated.
Gillian Kind of like, but certainly don't love.
Talia Makes me think of "talon", so I don't like it.
Lauren Okay, but bored with it due to former popularity.
Annalise Rather pretty.
Violet The rare V name I can't get behind.
Peridot Ridiculous.
Tatum More ridiculous than Peridot.
Gretchen Charmingly ugly.
Olivia Love it, but too popular.
Paige I've never understood this one.
Penelope (Penny) Penny is cute but I can't stand the "pee" at the end of Penelope.
Elina Okay..I guess.
Leah One of my favorite names.
Nicole Boring and dated.
Gillian Kind of like, but certainly don't love.

Leah One of my favorite names.
Amber - the sound of it has always seemed sort of pedestrian to me, like Kimberly. It's sort of like Brandy but a later vintage ... meant to be sparkly and dramatic but came out modest and ordinary, and that makes it so much more likeable despite the brassy concreteness it has.
Nicole - I like it alright, for a name with second syllable stress. It seems classic because it's the form of Nicholas.
Gillian - sort of gutsy, isn't it? I like it, and thank you for spelling it with a G.
Talia - pretty on paper, kinda snotty in real life and nms
Lauren - tweedy and glum and really nice, I like it, but I like it less than Laura and Laurel and even Laurence.
Annalise - just has no appeal for me. Forgettable. I'd rather see Anna or Anne-Elise or Ana-Lisa. I keep seeing the word annal in Annalise, and annelid (earthworm) if you spell it Annelise.
Violet - kind of sexy and dark, so much that I would not use it. But I still like it. It's on my list.
Peridot - could work. A little silly - concrete and empty like Amber with the invocation of random shinies that have no common symbolism. Actually Peridot has that problem worse than Amber does. But it's really not any less namey! nms but approved anyway
Tatum - so deliberately ugly, and that's all it's got. Tay dumb. sounds like it means something similar to "smidgen" ... like tad + datum? haha. I hate it a whole lot. It's worse than Piper, if such a thing is possible.
Gretchen - is a nice name. It's only ugly if you think about it way harder than people do in real life. IRL it's a nice name. Very German, like Liesl only more familiar
Nicole - I like it alright, for a name with second syllable stress. It seems classic because it's the form of Nicholas.

Amber - I know it has a certain stereotype, but I have always liked this name.
Nicole - It's alright, though a little boring imo.
Gillian - Not a fan of this name at all, just seems so bland to me.
Talia - It's ok, but again, not really my thing.
Lauren - Same as Nicole.
Annalise - I do like this name, but prefer the spelling Anneliese.
Violet - Love it, so pretty and feminine.
Peridot - I like the stone (It's the birthstone for my DH and both our DS's!), but I don't like it as a name for a human.
Tatum - Always reminds me of totem, as in a totem pole. Don't like it.
Gretchen - Ugly imo, sorry.
Olivia - Nice, but so ridiculously popular that it's kind of lost it's appeal.
Paige - Used to like it as a kid, but not anymore.
Penelope (Penny) - Penelope is alright, but I prefer just Penny. Mind you, I wouldn't use that either.
Elina - Not really for me, though it isn't horrible.
Leah - The name of an estranged cousin of mine and I have never been a fan of it tbh.
Nicole - It's alright, though a little boring imo.

Amber stereotypical trailer trash name where I live
Nicole too 80's. I know a lot of them.
Gillian bleh
Talia pretty, I think
Lauren nms but not bad
Annalise like Anneliese better, but it's a lovely name
Violet cutesy but in a good way
Peridot awful
Tatum absolutely not
Gretchen I like it as a nn for Margaretha on a little German girl with pigtails. Nowhere else, though.
Olivia bland
Paige preppy mess
Penelope (Penny) I love it, but Poppy/Popi is my nn of choice. It's so classical and timeless.
Elina sounds like a nn for Melina to me.
Leah I don't know. It's not bad.

Amber- alright
Nicole- okay, but kind of 80's. For a child born now, it would probably seem dated like the name of their friend's mom.
Gillian- a strong name without frills
Talia- It always strikes me as a nick name for Natalia rather than a name in and of itself even though I know its actually a Hebrew name.
Lauren- nice. I know a lovely person with this name, so I'm biased in its favor.
Annalise- pretty and it has a musical quality to it that reminds me of the work of a classical Austrian composer.
Violet- simple and sweet
Peridot- dislike
Tatum- dislike, it makes me think of a jock.
Gretchen- lovely and not used enough
Olivia- too popular
Paige- I think of the page of a book, or a medieval page that runs around doing little odd jobs for knights.
Penelope (Penny)- nice
Elina- pretty and classic
Leah- soft and gentle

Amber: Beautiful, so soft but not frilly or overblown.
Nicole: Never liked it.
Gillian: I really dislike this spelling but love Jillian.
Talia: Don't care for it, never know how to say it.
Lauren: Beautiful, as pretty as Laura but a bit more updated.
Annalise: Blah.
Violet: It's sort of cute but also very fairy-taley to me.
Peridot: This is one gem name that doesn't work.
Tatum: Hate it, reminds me of Tater Tots.
Gretchen: Kind of cute, but I'd never use it or want it for my own name.
Olivia: Elegant but kind of slithery.
Paige: Very nice.
Penelope (Penny): Penelope is goofy, like a Muppet's name. Penny is my mother's dog's name.
Elina: Not feeling it.
Leah: It's nice but kind of limp.

Why are you shouting?

It was a joke. I thought caps looked funnier because people usually say those words in a loud-ish voice.

What who said?
"That's what she said" is a lame joke. It's what people say after someone says something that can be taken as double entendre, like "It's nice, but kind of limp".
I "that's what she said" ALL the time. I am also 12.
Fun fact: it's actually a very old phrase that began as "said the actress to the bishop"

O m g... (bc I am 12 today), I am sooo going to start saying "said the actress to the bishop". Hilarious.
I have never heard it before. I looked up the history just now and see that it is the British equivalent.
But, growing up in the 80s and 90s means "that's what she said" is practically as ingrained as "ditto" or "jinx, you owe me a pepsi".

Really? Well, you learn something new every day. :)
Amber - This is one of my least favorite names ever. I just associate it so strongly with the 80s and badly-permed hair.
Nicole - Nicole is like Amber but not quite as bad for me.
Gillian - it's not really my style, but I like the way it sounds a lot.
Talia - I don't have a strong feeling about this one way or another.
Lauren - I like the way Lauren sounds more than Laura or Laurel but it's so tied to the nineties that it feels dated to me.
Annalise - I prefer Anna or Annabel but it's ok.
Violet - it's charming but I associate it very strongly with celebrities, which isn't a positive for me.
Peridot - Honestly, I don't know how to pronounce this word!
Tatum - It's got kind of an ick sound IMO.
Gretchen - Not my thing.
Olivia - Probably my least favorite of the current popular classic girls names other than Isabella. If I were going to go in that direction, I'd choose Amelia, Emma, or Emily before Olivia.
Paige - Really dislike.
Penelope (Penny) - I think it's cute and Penny is a cute nickname. My sister Genny was almost named Penelope but my mom was scared she'd be called Penny, which she hates. I don't get it.
Elina - I don't know if I've ever heart of this name. I don't feel strongly about it.
Leah - It's sweet and I love your Leah Frances.
Nicole - Nicole is like Amber but not quite as bad for me.
Gillian - it's not really my style, but I like the way it sounds a lot.
