Mia Farrow's Children
If someone has posted this recently, I apologize. I was just watching the "Allen vs. Farrow" documentary, and I was reminded that Mia Farrow has been mother to 14 children, in her life. I wanted to ask your opinion of their names. Some of them are deceased, unfortunately, so if you feel uncomfortable commenting on their names, I'll just put a "deceased" next to them. So, tell me what you think, and if you don't feel like commenting on any of these names for whatever reason, just skip it. I know it's a sensitive subject, I just think Mia has interesting taste in names.

+ Mia Farrow's siblings names
She came from a large family herself, apparently with a strict Catholic upbringing.
Born to Hollywood parents Maureen Paula O’Sullivan and John Villers Farrow:
Michael Damien
Patrick Joseph
Maria de Lourdes “Mia”
John Charles
Prudence Anne
Stephanie Margarita
Theresa Magdalena “Tisa”
It seems most of the children (but possibly not all) had Villiers as a third middle (i.e. Patrick Joseph Villiers Farrow).
I also remember that in an episode of “Finding Your Roots,” they discovered that a historical family surname was Makepeace, and Mia said she wished she had known that, as she would have incorporated it into her children’s names. I thought that was a little ironic.

Did Ronan and Quincy change their own names or did Mia change them? How old were they?
I think Lark and Moses by themselves would make an interesting subset.
And Thaddeus and Isaiah seem to go well together.
I like Tam.
The rest seem okay/pleasant. My least favorites are Summer, Dylan, Matthew, and Satchel.

Nice:
Ronan
Lark
Summer
Okay:
Matthew
Sascha (prefer Sasha)
Daisy (but as a nn for Summer it's odd)
Soon-Yi (but in an English speaking country the "soon" isn't great)
Isaiah
Quincy
Thaddeus
Awful:
Satchel
Moses
Fletcher (the sound is horrible)
Dylan (on a girl)
Tam is kind incomplete but as a nickname it's okay. Frankie-Minh (g) is also pretty awful because of the hyphen, the nickname-name, the combo just doesn't work. Kaeli-Shea is an odd combo too. Shea is fine and Kayleigh as well but why the hyphen? Kayleigh Shea or even Kaelie Shea would have been fine.
Why are so many of them deceased? Seems odd to me as they must be younger than Mia Farrow.

Mia adopted several children with preexisting health problems, but one of her sons struggled with depression and took his own life.
Ahh thanks for explaining. Seemed like an unusually high number of children to lose. Awful, so sad :(
Yeah, I think it's also...the more children you have, the more likely it is that some of them *might* predecease you. Odds, and all that.

Satchel is weird no wonder they changed their name. The other are ok I guess though not really my style.
Satchel was named after this guy:

Woody Allen also has an adopted daughter with Soon-Yi named Bechet, after Sidney Bechet. So, naming offspring after prominent African American figures seems to be a thing of his.

Bechet has a sister named Manzie. I don't know what the inspiration for her name was.
Manzie Johnson, jazz musician. He must really love jazz.
I still think he’s innocent.
I have no idea who is telling the truth but I wanted to share the account of Moses who lived with Mia throughout his childhood and teenage years because I thought it offered an interesting perspective: http://mosesfarrow.blogspot.com/2018/05/a-son-speaks-out-by-moses-farrow.html I am just reading this myself.
It is an interesting perspective, isn't it? It's a huge can of worms and, I'm NOT going to open it, just like Raya! Feels fine.
Same here. Their whole family dynamic is so out of this world. Maybe one day more of the kids will speak out. Until them I'm not speculating.
My dad is a big woody allen fan, and posts things from "the other" perspective all the time. They seem pretty compelling, to me, whereas Mia's side seems pretty flimsily poked through, and the responses don't really check out either. Aside from my dad's interest, I don't poke into it much on my own. I think it's a shame to "cancel" an innocent person but it's also really not my problem.
I wish people would instead cancel people who are 100% guilty but for some reason people still want to work with Roman Polanski. I have no idea how anyone could let their child act in one of his films (Oliver Twist).
I'm not saying that you should cancel the stuff he had done previously (because by that logic we'd have to cancel all films Kevin Spacey appeared in and all films Harvey Weinstein ever produced and that list is LONG and includes lots and lots of popular movies such as Pulp Fiction, Jane Eyre, Emma, Scream, Good Will Hunting, The Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Sin City, Finding Neverland and hundreds more (crazy list).
But I wouldn't want to work with him anymore and don't really get why people do that (I mean I do kind of get it it's MONEY) but still...
I personally only watched one Woody Allen film (Annie Hall) and didn'tt like it.

I think both parents were abusive, in their own ways.
Okay, THAT's the last I'll say of it, for realsies.

I don't. But, I'll just leave it there.
Mia Farrow's kids are interesting because there's so many names involved. Like, Satchel became Ronan, Kaeli-Shae became Quincy Maureen, Dylan was also called Eliza and Malone, Thaddeus used to be Gabriel. 14 is a lot of names but then you get so many more, it's a gold mine.
Frankie-Minh is really cute, I like that one quite a bit. Quincy Maureen is also fun. Malone is also a GP, it's so.... hard-boiled film noir detective.
