Rowan- boy or girl?
Rowan is one of the very few names I like on both a boy and a girl. Which do you prefer it on? And good middle name ideas? I'd probably pair it with a very masculine or feminine middle name, depending which gender I used it on.

I much prefer it on a boy.
Boy
I prefer Rowan as a mans name. It has a handsome masculine sound to it, but it isn't terrible on a girl.

I prefer it for a boy but I like it for both.
Could go either way
It's one of the few unisex names that could really go either way. I've met both male and female Rowans.
Personally, I slightly prefer it for a male.

I only like Rowan for a boy.
Rowan for a boy, Rowena for a girl!

Boy, all the way. I dislike it for a girl, but it's one of my long-time favorites for a boy. I've met one of each.

Boy
I only like it for a boy, but since it's a nature name I consider it unisex. However, if I heard of a new baby with that name but didn't know the sex, I would guess the baby was a girl.

I love Rowan on both. It's also one of the few unisex names that (where I live anyway) doesn't seem to lean either way. It's fairly popular too. I know five Rowans, three boys and two girls.
At the moment I'm loving Mari Rowan for a girl. Middle-names, I don't think I'd pair it with something super masculine or feminine because I don't usually like that kind of name, but I wouldn't pair it with anything that could be unisex, not even Kelly or Courtney.

Boy. Can't see it on a girl.
Both
I like it on both.
I think of Rowan-the-Irish-name as being a boys name, but Rowan-the-nature-name as being unisex. So I like it on both.
I would use it as a first name on a boy and a middle name for a girl, personally, but I think because it's the name of a tree it's fair game.
And yes, would definitely pair it with a distinctly gendered middle name to make it clear which.
