Re: Names you love
Some names I love, which I would probably not use as first names, because they're not quite the style for me to use - girls:
Charlotte - longtime favorite, but I say it "Charlet," and I like it when it's "Charlawt," and... that just isn't happening.
Gemma
Julia, Heather, Melanie, Angela, Amy, Jasmine, Kendra, Shannon, Sherry, Karissa, Summer, Meryl - too dated
Edith - yeah. I think I would use it and then I think - but would I really end up calling her Edie? I don't know. Edith itself is not quite ready for prime time, and I am not sure I would want to be named it if I were born now.
Claudia
Iris, Violet
River, Liberty, Lark - GPsNames I love that I might actually use:
Virginia (Gini)
Alexandra (Alex or Sandy or Sandra)
Darcy? It's been off limits because a friend named her daughter it, but we haven't spoken in years now...
Mellisant (Mellie) - well, my husband would veto it but I'm not having any more kids so this is hypothetical.boys - love but wouldn't use as first names (maybe middles):
Merrick
Valentine (Val)
Francis
Zeno
Marshall
Jay
Julian
Alexander
Drew
Robin
Mars
Rowan
Kendrickwould use:
Damon
Conrad
Adrian
Marc / Marcus
Raymond (Ray)
Nicholas (Nick)

I feel the same way with Edith. I adore Edie as a nickname and I love the name, but I'm not so sure I would use it. I do like Mellisant is not something I've heard before, but the more I think on it, I like it. Merrick and Rowan are definitely growing on me, I think I would put them in middle name spots though. Not crazy about Raymond but I like Damon, even if everyone thinks it's some devil child name.
