I LOVE Alex on a girl and pushed DH for it (Georgia was also on our short list). I've known 2 girl Alexes - one a successful restauranteur and one a grad student. Both are pretty, very very smart and very very independent - the kind of women I'd be happy for my daughter to grow up like. I think of it as a name that's tough and sexy on an adult but also cute on a little girl.Alex Ophelia is interesting, but I'm not a huge Ophelia fan. What seems to fit best to me are sort of old fashioned/very feminine names and names starting with vowels. Depending on your last name, any of these might work:Alex Evelyn
Alex Eugenie
Alex Irena
Alex Imogen
Alex Odessa
Alex Oliviaalso: Alex Maria, Alex Corrina, Alex Francesca, Alex Lucinda
BTW, I love Dean as a middle name for a girl. A bit too unisex to pair with Alex, but Georgia Dean sounds great.

Alex is cute, and Alex Ophelia is lovely. Some random suggestions . . .Alex Maria / Marie
Alex Olivia
Alex Theresa
Alex Diane
Alex Kelly
Alex Rachel
Alex Hannah
Alex Megan
Alex Brogan
Alex DelilahBTW, I know Hollis is on your short list, and I was wondering whether you'd considered Hollin as an alternative? Another couple of names that made me think of you were Jenner (maybe too similar to Gunner lol) and Farley.

Ok, so I'm not a big fan of unisex names, but Alex is one I like. I love it for a girl, but I don't really like it for a guy. I really like "just" Alex as a name for a girl, it's very cute. I like the combos Alex Nicole, Alex Hannah, Alex Danielle, Alex Teagan and Alex Bethany.

I like the spellling Alix better for a girl if you are using this as the full name.I like Alix Ophelia

I don't like Alex on its own for either gender. Sorry. Is Hollis still in the running? I still really like it.

Meh, what about Wyatt Ophelia Wright (thats you ln, right?) - WOW! Or:
Grayson Dean
Dale Evan
Bergen Hollis
Aubrey Burke
Sullivan Claire
Sailor Kathleen / Katherine

Wyatt Wright just sounds weird to me, but I love the name.Grayson Dane was actually a name on my boy's list for a while until I started raising and breeding Great Danes and then it seemed a little goofy.Dale Evan is kind of like Dale Evans to me. Dale is really cute for a girl, but happens to be the name of an ex-boyfriend... wouldn't want to do that...Bergen is cute too but seems a little harsh sounding imo.Sullivan is adorable and I love the nn Sully I'm just not sure it would make it past dh... might put it on my list though.Sailor is the same as Sullivan...Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am having such a hard time with naming this one it's making me crazy!~Michelle (Mo5)

I don't care for it, sorry. I think when teachers, etc. see "Alex Lastname" in print, they'll always assume MALE.

It's okay and I like both middle names. I'm still backing Hollis though.-Seda*

I'm not a fan of nicknames as full first names. If Alex is to be a full name though, I prefer the spelling Alix. It looks more separate from Alexandra, and I'm biased because I was reading the Nicholas & Alexandra biography recently, and she was originally princess Alix or Somewhere-or-other ;-) Alix Ophelia would be lovely.I still prefer your other choices, Hollis being my very favourite._____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

Alex Ophelia is rather sweet but I still like Hollis Ophelia slightly more :)

I think it's too ambiguous and confusing, as people will probably think it's a nickname for Alexandra, Alexis, etc. (kind of like Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen's daughter Sam). I prefer Alexandra with Alex as a nickname.

I actually prefer Alex on a girl to any other Alex____ names (even for a boy)!

Alex should be a boys name imo. I would hate to go thru life as a woman named Alex. But then, I don't like any of the Alex names, especially Alexis, Alexa, Alexia, Alexandria, etc. Too harsh sounding.

I can see Alex as a name on its own, from the Greek alexo "to defend, to help". Alex Ophelia is really pretty.I prefer Hollis, though.Shannon

It's an okay name, but I don't like it for you nearly as much as I like Hollis...or Georgia, for that matter.Alex on its own sounds like a rich, bratty girl living in a penthouse in New York City. I think your other choices had a lot more personality than this one, which is looking pretty worn out just now.Array
