Whitney
Yes, the name has been on my mind ever since Ms. Houston's death. I've always liked it for its youthful nature and its "brightness"- it's a very positive name, in my mind. WDYT? Any good combo ideas, just for the hell of it?

I'm been thinking about this name alot, since her death. Her full name was Whitney Elizabeth which, i think, is quite pretty. Paris Hilton's mn is Whitney, also.Whitney Laurel

I don't know why but I just haven't ever been able to like Whitney. It always makes me think of a horse and whinney.

It does feel youthful. Personally I find it a little too insubstantial. BUt that's just taste. When you mentioned it's brightness, my first thought was Whitney Soliel.

Whitney Soleil is cute.

Whitney Suggestions
I have never been a fan, I confess. It seems a vulgarly incomplete and unprofessional to me, personally... I agree with Lily's post, more or less. For a name such as this to be used, I feel that it needs a very sophisticated middlename to balance it.

I remember loving this name when I was younger, but now I think it's kind of "meh, whatever".

It's definitely got a pretty sound, but I've always thought of it as trendy 80s, in the same camp as Brittany, Jessica, Kimberly, Lindsay, and Ashley. Just not substantial. I do like it on a boy, though. Whit is a cool nickname.

I like it but would not use it as it's nms. Better than Britney.

I know a Whitney Sarah, which I think is pretty. Whitney Laurel, Whitney Caroline, Whitney Abigail, Whitney Margaret, Whitney Margo(t)?

My youngest sister-in-law is named Whitney Brooke. I've always liked the name, definitely more than I ever liked Brittany, its rhyme.Whitney AllisonWhitney Beth?Whitney CarolWhitney DawnWhitney EricaWhitney FayeWhitney Grace?Whitney HopeWhitney IrisWhitney JoyWhitney KathleenWhitney LaineWhitney MichelleWhitney PaigeWhitney RoseWhitney Sky

It's not bad but it's a bit trashy, in my opinion. It was cool and hip in the 80s and then went down the same path as Britney. Probably also because of the changing lifestyle of the singer. I'm pretty sure that Britney/Brittany/Brittney and Whitney's extremely rapid fall can partly be explained by the negative image of the singers. I'm pretty sure that Whitney Houston made Whitney popular at first but also helped it to fall quickly when her career didn't go so well anymore. Britney and Whitney fit in with all the other similar sounding Ashley, Courtney, Bailey names but none of them have fallen as quickly out of favor.I don't mind the sound, it's actually pretty. And a Whitney born today would probably be the only one in her class etc. So if you like it go for it. As long as you don't spell it Whittni (yep, I know one). On Smallville there was a boy named Whitney and I actually thought it was kind of cool. Still I prefer it on a girl.Whitney Clare
Whitney Clara
Whitney CamilleI think it needs to be paired with a C name. That way it has a lovely white and silver image to me.

Whitney Clare is pretty, but I prefer Claire. :)It's funny how the colors of names can be so different, because I see W & C as blue and bright pink.

It always depends. Clare is white and so is Catherine but Chloe is green and pink. Whitney is white and silver (the silver gets stronger when paired with Clare). Claire is yellow and white which is why I don't like it with Whitney :P
