As previously mention, it seems to be the name of a plant, derived from the French surname Aubriet, from Aubry (Aubrey). Dahlia and Linnea have similar etymologies. As a given name, it could also be seen a feminization of Aubrey, using the feminine suffix -Etta. Similar to Aubrielle and Aubriella.

Maybe you have heard it as a name for a flowering plant, here's a reference to it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrieta (Note: One t only)

It is more likely to have been derived from AUBRIET , the surname of the artist from which the flower takes its name. They may have ties to the name AUBREY , as well.
