Lol.There is a Monty Python episode where a marriage counsellor is flirting heavily with the wife of one of his clients. Here's part of the script:
Counsellor (writes without looking down, just stares at the wife): And what is the name of your ravishing wife? (holds up hand) Wait. Don't tell me - it's something to do with moonlight - it goes with her eyes - it's soft and gentle, warm and yielding, deeply lyrical and yet tender and frightened like a tiny whit rabbit...
Man : It's Deirdre. And the crowd roars with laughter.I don't mind it, really. I think Enid would have been more effective there. But I don't like it very much at all.

I like it for you.

I'd only use it if I lived in Ireland, or if my Irish heritage was so important that it'd make the constant corrections of spelling and pronunciation worth it. For me, it wouldn't be worth it (as a person who constantly spells out her name). For a mn, I'd avoid a 2 syllable name.Deirdre Aurelia
Deirdre Azura
Deirdre Belle
Deirdre Corinne
Deirdre Eleanor
Deirdre Isabel
Deirdre Mercy

Deirdre goes hand in hand with "of the Sorrows" for me, so I'm not much of a fan. It sounds sad.Deirdre Catherine is a good combo. Since I perceive Deirdre as being gloomy, I like it paired with warm names that have energy and a certain sunlit quality.Deirdre Phoebe
Deirdre Ivy
Deirdre Camille
Deirdre Scarlett
Deirdre Summer
Deirdre Hallie
Deirdre Gillian

I've always kinda liked it. Definitely love the mythology behind it. Everyone I've ever met named this has always seemed really sunny, and generally easy to get along with. I'm liking the Deirdre Catherine combo. And what do you think of:Deirdre Eve
Deirdre Holly
Deirdre Irene
Deirdre June
Deirdre Michelle
Deirdre SophieI'm curious, though. How else, other than DEER-dra would you pronounce this? O.o

According to the site, you can prn it DER-dra, DEER-dra, DEER-dree. I've also heard it DEE-dra.Deirdre Sophia is nice, although that's not what you suggested. :)

I've always seen it as somewhat of a sad name, but you should take that with a grain of salt. My favorite female name is Ophelia... definitely a sad story there.I think Deirdre Catherine is very classic. I like it.

Thank you. I like Ophelia... although I feel more people are familiar with Ophelia's story than Deirdre. I think I'm safe. :)

I appreciate your making suggestions even though you dislike the name. :)Deirdre August
Deirdre Claire/ ClareI really like both of those, actually.

Deirdre Anne
Deirdre Michelle
Deirdre Theresa
Deirdre Patricia
Deirdre Alexis
Deirdre Sara (or Sarah )

I like the spelling and the way it looks more and more, although the vowels will probably be confused. I like Deirdre Mary and Deirdre Therese, although you didn't suggest that. :)

I'm sorry I just think of the character from Coronation Street

lol me too! I can't imagine this name on a baby! Coronation St has done that to a lot of names for me....

I think that with Audrey as well.

lol yeh with Audrey, Audrey Roberts and Audrey Hepburn fight it out in my head - some days Hepburn wins and I like it, other days not so much! Although Francesca (nn Frankie) has grown on me because of the Coro St character.

I don't know what that is, so that's okay. nt :)

dated, unpleasant-sounding, difficult to spell... ;)lol, sorry, but I guess I am more in line with your previous feelings on this name!Although...Deirdre Mireille is a delightful tongue-twister, and Deirdre Sybella is lovely. Hmm, gosh, now I think it's growing on me!

I've made a convert! :DI like Deirdre Sybella for some reason.

Love it. It's one of those sleeper classics that could come back easily. The folklore aspect is very romantic. The "DEER-dra" pronunciation is the only one I like too. Deirdre Catherine is lovely. Deirdre Renee has the "r" sounds too close together. How about:Deirdre Kate / Kay / Cathleen
Deirdre Maeve
Deirdre Maureen
Deirdre Niamh
Deirdre Lily
Deirdre Frances
Deirdre Christine
Deirdre Tess
Deirdre Vivien
Deirdre Chloe
Deirdre Mary
Deirdre Evelyn
Deirdre Celeste
Deirdre Valerie
Deirdre Charlotte
Deirdre Alice
Deirdre Emily
Deirdre Natalie
Deirdre Colleen
Deirdre Erin
Deirdre Aisling ("ASH-ling")
Deirdre Shannon

Of your list I like:Deirdre Kate / Kay / Cathleen - I originally had Deirdre Kate in my post. I like the sounds together, but they have different feelings to me. I dislike Kay, and I like Cathleen with it a lot.
Deirdre Maeve
Deirdre Charlotte
Deirdre Aisling ("ASH-ling") - the pastor's daughter is Aisling and I like it SO much better than Ashley
Deirdre Skye
Deirdre Eilidh ("EYE-lee") - never saw Eilidh before. Cute

I don't like Deirdre for myself, but I like it for someone else. It has an odd, but wholly pleasing sound and it's uncommon in the U.S., so that's a definite plus!Deirdre Catherine is great, but I'm biased. :)Middle name suggestions:Deirdre Henrietta

Deirdre Julianne
Deirdre Fiona
Deirdre Olivia
Deirdre Maren
