Amy is my real first name-- I was named after my great and my great-great grandmothers. I HATED the name growing up in the 1970s and 1980s-- there were always at least 3 other Amys in every class I was in or wherever I worked. However, now that I'm not exposed to hordes of people born the same year as I was I kind of like it better. I probably will never ever go back to being called Amy, but the sound of it isn't like nails on a chalkboard anymore. It's got some history. It's firmly OK. It will seem a little outdated to the current generation-- I remember going to school with a Barbara and a Sharon who were my own age and thinking it was weird that they had "Mom names." It would be like that.

I like it. It seems fresh these days, and it gives off a warm vibe. Even though it's popular among people my age, I don't know very many. Growing up, I didn't go to school with any, but I did go to camp with one. It wasn't until college that I met two who happened to both be living on my floor.

It's ok. It's not exciting, but would be a nice change from Sophia, Emily, Madison, etc.

I am totally with you! I love Amy. It's so simple and sweet, and it sounds friendly. It might be slightly dated, but personally I've only ever met two, (and one Aimee), so it has never been very common in my area. I would definitely consider using Amy for a daughter of my own.

I love its simplicity and the fact that it's uncommon in this generation. :) I agree with you on all counts. I think it works fabulously with a romantic middle name, a little whimsical.

I love the name Amy. I especially like it with the middle name Elizabeth. I think it has a nice flow to it.

I like it. It's simple, but it's not all that boring. I find Jane boring, Amy not so much. There is still something refreshing about it, probably because I've never known a lot of Amy's.
