Anna Elizabeth
Violet Elizabeth down the board got a lot of negative reactions because of the Elizabeth in the middle. A lot of people think the combo is too boring for words.
Despite not liking Elizabeth in the middle for most combos, Anna Elizabeth strikes me as just about the most beautiful combination of names ever. I know some will think it's boring together and that Anna and Elizabeth are boring and overused apart. But I'm wondering whether some of you can see the appeal of this combo? I also wonder if you have any combos with Elizabeth in the middle that you don't think are boring?
Also, just for fun, what's the best Anna middle name combo you can come up with if you don't like Anna Elizabeth? Just one combo, thanks!

It flows nicely but it’s indeed extremely boring. It would work better as a double first name,
I have three dds and very briefly, I considered Elizabeth for the mn for every one of them. That's exactly why I immediately discarded it. It's just so expected in the mn spot. Having said that, Anna Elizabeth is lovely and if it works for you, who cares if it's a common mn?
My fave Elizabeth combo is Elizabeth Eve. Then again, I'd be more likely to use something else entirely. My fave Anna combo is Anna Caroline. It's my dd's name. My dh chose Anna while I chose Caroline. Anna wasn't my first choice, that's true, but I do have to admit when my dh calls her Annie, it's mighty cute!

I see how you think it's pretty. Occasionally I get away from namenerdery long enough to appreciate that Elizabeth is a pretty name, and Anna is like a little beam of sunshine going right through it. Super boring in a social context, but on its own it's very nice.
I might find Anna Elisabeth a bit prettier.
I never use Elizabeth for combos. I wonder if any exceptions to this rule will jump out at me because of this post.

It seems a tad boring and overused, like no thought was put into the name. I can appreciate the appeal, but the names are both so popular that together they’re too bland. I was looking through my cousin’s yearbook the other day and there were probably 5 Anna Elizabeth’s in each grade.
Cecelia Elizabeth
Dorothy Elizabeth
Hildegard Elizabeth
Maisie Elizabeth
For Anna, it needs an interesting middle name, maybe Anna Rosamund, Anna Mathilde, Anna Laverne, Anna Isidora, Anna Genevieve, Anna Estelle, or Anna Corinne.

Well, ranking it just on the basis of whether it’s boring or not, I would say no, it’s not boring. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I really don’t know anyone named Anna. I know of one Ana I went to school with and that’s it? And it seems Elizabeth is used way less as a middle name now than it ever was, say, 30 years ago. (And I have to say a similar response for Violet Elizabeth. Even though on this board people tend to be aware that Violet is somewhat popular, I think most “laypeople” would think it’s an interesting name. I definitely don’t know a single person named Violet.)
Whether or not I am drawn to the combo is another story. I don’t really like the name Anna because it sounds stuffy to me. Like, literally reminds me of a stuffy nose. I don’t have much to back that up but I much prefer Ann or Anne.
I’m going to throw Anna Catherine in the ring. Just as “boring”. :) But I like the idea of calling her Anna Cate or Anna Cat for fun.

Nope, sorry, it's still boring.
I actually like both classics individually, but as a combo it reeks of one of two things:
1. The parents didn't even think about a girl name and came up with one at the last minute;
or
2. The parents had such wildly divergent name tastes that this was the only compromise available.
I'm not normally one to ever put Elizabeth in the middle name slot. If I were ever to use her, she'd be front and center (my stock combo is Elizabeth Iris).
And little Anna really needs something spicy in the middle name slot to mitigate the impression of her parents having slapped a name label onto her and called it a day. I would recommend:
Anna Guinevere (this used to be in my Top 10)
Anna Genevieve
Anna Lavinia
Anna Victoria
Anna Sapphira
Anna Calpurnia
Anna Cordelia
Anna Cressida
Anna Demetria
Anna Demelza
Anna Persephone
Anna Scheherazade
Anna Theodosia
Anna Clarissa
Anna Florence
Anna Juliet
Anna Philippa
Anna Louisa
Anna Betony

Anna Elizabeth screams tradition and a classic, timeless vibe. It’s a pretty combo, though not one I would use myself. Some combos with Elizabeth in the middle that I like are:
Sky Elizabeth - I think Elizabeth is really timeless and pretty and with the spunky, botanical, hippy vibe I get from Sky, I think it’s a nice contrast.
Mary Elizabeth - Another super classic pairing of timeless names and one a lot of people will find boring, but there’s just something so comforting and homely about this combo and I love that.
Ivy Elizabeth - Again, on the botanical, spunky side with the use of the name Ivy, which I see as rather a classic name too.
As for an alternative Anna combo, it’s not something I’ve really thought much about tbh. Off the top of my head, what about Anna Phoebe?

It is pretty much the perfect name, if you like classic names that won’t date.
I don't like the -a E-. Moving between the vowels is not a smooth transition. I do not like it. Anne Elizabeth on the other hand is still boring, but really rather nice.
Anna Louisa
Anna Peraephone
Anna Magnolia
Anna Nicole (similarly boring, but I feel Nicole became a filler, because it actually works super well. If only this didn't make me think of boobs and premature death...)

But why else would something become a filler? Lol
I like all your combos.

I like Anna Elizabeth. Very classy and sophisticated. I prefer Elizabeth as a first name though.
I don't like any of the Violet names, sorry.
Anna Cecilia (or Ana Cecilia, which I found prettier) is by now my favourite Anna combo.

Can I see the appeal? Yes
Is it still boring? Yes, bleedingly so.
Elizabeth has a fillerish vibe to it, but anything unusual as a FN will do to liven up the combo. They don't even have to be very modern to do so.
Zelda Elizabeth
Kerenza Elizabeth
Lovis Elizabeth
Zinnia Elizabeth
Verona Elizabeth
These have quite a different vibe from:
Sarah Elizabeth
Mary Elizabeth
Sophia Elizabeth
Chloe Elizabeth
Nora Elizabeth
Just one Anna combo...
I'm digging Anna Constanza at the moment :)

I appreciate the classic, no-frills simplicity, but I also find it a bit dull.
My favorite Anna combo is Anna Sophia. As for Elizabeth, I prefer it up front. It’s a fine middle name but so overdone. I suppose it could be livened up with an interesting and unusual first name. Mattea Elizabeth, Laelia Elizabeth, Raina Elizabeth, Savina Elizabeth, Kyveli Elizabeth...

I can see where you are coming from!
I normally dislike Elizabeth in the middle name spot, but when paired with certain names, it is so pretty! Similarly, a few months ago, I found the combo Anna Jane somewhere and I think it is SO pretty, despite being quite boring. I normally dislike Jane in the middle spot as well.
My "Anna" combo would be Anna Jane, as I favor it over most "Anna" combos, despite it's normalcy.

Ugh. At least Violet is a bit more unusual than Anna. Anna Elizabeth is a big crashing headaching bore. I can see the appeal with people who are Hooked On Classics and hope their little Anna Elizabeth is the only Anna in a sea of Kinsleys and Brooklynns at school, but they're liable to be disappointed.
Anna Maria has some music to it at least.
