If you had to
Choose a name out of the top 10, which one would you choose and why? Don't change spellings. One per gender. It's just something I've been asking myself, which name I'd choose if it had to be a really popular one. They're all super common so popularity wouldn't matter much anymore.Sophia
Isabella
Emma
Olivia
Ava
Emily
Abigail
Madison
Mia
ChloeJacob
Mason
William
Jayden
Noah
Michael
Ethan
Alexander
Aiden

Olivia & JacobIf I were to make combos:
Olivia Sophia & Jacob William

I'd go with Emma and Daniel. Chloe and William were close seconds though. Emma and Daniel feel like names that will wear well and won't seem too dated. I like the nn Dan and Danny better than Will and Willy which why I went for Daniel. For middle names, would probably go with Emma Autumn and Daniel Gavin. Thoughts?

Sophia and Alexander because of their sounds, histories, and meanings.

I love Olivia but I've already used it as my daughters middle name, so I guess I would go with Mia. I like Emma too, but I know it wouldn't suit a child of mine. For a boy, I think I would go with Daniel.

I would choose Emily for a girl. It's a classic and works for a variety of personalities. I also like how it isn't too frilly like Isabella. For a boy, I would go with Alexander. I've liked it for years. I dislike the nickname Alex, but I love Xander.

For a boy, I'd use Alexander because Alexandra is my mom's middle name. I'd pick Emma for a girl just because I love it more and more all the time.

Sophia and Alexander. Beautiful classics.

Chloe and Alexander. I just love old names with history and especially Greek names.

Ava, because it has an old Hollywood charm and ages well. I also like Emily and Chloe. Jayden, because despite the -aidan fad, I can't help but love it (especially this spelling). So sue me. I also like Jacob, William and Noah.

For a daughter I'd choose Emma or Sophia, probably Emma though because it's more comfortable to say it aloud. Also on my family tree the Lena who I want to honor had a sister named Emma.Alexander or William (although I also love Aiden I prefer the Aidan spelling) and I'd use nicknames with them. Alexander was my favorite boys name quite a few years ago and my love for it has started to revive. I'd use a nickname, either Alec or Xander.

Girls would be Olivia, easily, because I love it so much.Boys would be harder. I really like Jacob, Alexander, and Daniel. I'd probably flip a coin and pick among those three. Because I like them the most. No other reason.

For a boy: Alexander
This is because I love the nn Lex and Alexander "Lex" is very handsome I think. I don't really care for the other top 10 names for boys, so it was an easy choice.
For a girl: Isabella
This is because I dislike it least and I think Isa is nice enough to have a child with that nickname, it'd be Isabella "Isa". Some of the names would be a little awkward to use in my own language and others are so bloody boring I'd never give them to my own child.

Isabella - my gran
William - my grandad

Ava. I've always adored Ava. Classy, sweet, timeless. I'd use it regardless of popularity if it wasn't already my friend's daughters name. Runner up is Sophia (my cousins name, so also out)Ava Delphine or Ava Leonie or Ava Seraphine or Ava Ceridwen. As for the boys, I love the look and meaning of Noah.Noah Matthias or Noah Felix or Noah Ignatius.

Isabella to use the nickname Bella. Isabella Emily as a combo.
Alexander to use the nickname Lex. Alexander Mason as a combo.

I'd definitely choose Alexander for boy. It has always been one of my favorites. For a girl I'd choose either Emma or Olivia. They are the ones I like best + they would work just fine here. My SIL has Emma as a part of her hyphenated FN, so I guess I'd go with Olivia.

Emily and Daniel. The ones I would never, ever use are:Emma, Ava, Abigail, Madison and Mia; Jacob, Mason, Jayden, Noah, Ethan and Aiden.

Probably Sophia from the girls. I think it's gorgeous and I don't really care that it's so popular. Other contenders would be Emma, Ava, and to a lesser extent Olivia and Mia. I also think Emily is a nice name, but it needs a big rest.I'd probably go with Alexander from the boys. It's a nice, handsome name with a lot of nickname options to fit many personalities. Runner-ups would be William, Noah, and Daniel, and to a lesser extent Jacob.

Sophia. It's pretty and still pretty classy. It's not too frilly or silly either.William. So very handsome.

Sophia or Isabella for a girl, Alexander or William for a boy.

Sophia and William, hands down. I'd use either in a heartbeat. I also like Isabella, Emma, Olivia, Ava, Emily, Abigail, Jacob, Noah, Michael, Ethan, Alexander, and Daniel.

For a girl, probably Emma. It's classic, sweet and I quite like short names with long middles. It also feels pretty solid to me - I know Emmas of all ages. For a boy, I think I'd have to go with William. It's a classic but has lots of cool nicknames like Liam and Billy.

Abigail Olivia & Alexander WilliamRegardless of how popular Abigail is, it's a gorgeous name. Olivia just flows really well with it. Alexander is my favorite boys name and I love William.

I like:Sophia Olivia Ava Emily Abigail Mia ChloeWilliam Noah Alexander Aiden DanielIf Isabel had been on this list instead of Isabella I would have easily decided to choose it as my favorite, even when I was kid far before Isabella was popular and before Twilight I loved Isabel but really disliked Isabella.Really though the ones I find myself debating over are Sophia, Olivia, Abigail, and Mia, then William, Alexander, Daniel, and Aidan. Then I narrowed it to Sophia or Olivia and William or Alexander or Aiden, then I narrowed the boys names down to William or Aiden. I much prefer the spelling Aedan to Aiden. In the end I choose Olivia and William. Even though Liam is also popular I love it as a nn for William, I also like Will as a nn for William. The guys I had the biggest crushes on in elementary school where named Alexander, William, and Daniel well also Casey but the other names are in the top 10 and I like them.

Ava. I like palindromes, and love the simplicity of Ava. William. Michael is a very close second though.

I can't change Sophia to Sophie? Oh well, then Emily,I guess.Good choices for boys. I will go with Michael.

Sophia and Daniel. They're the only ones I really love from the list - I'd consider using them no matter what their rank.

Olivia and WilliamI'd always call William by his full name. I know lots of guys named Will and Bill as well as a few named Liam but have never met anyone who went by William. So it sounds fresh to me unlike some other names on the list.Olivia is Shakespearean which I like. I also love olive trees and it has a nice, soft sound.I also like:Ava - but this includes the common AY sound so it feels a bit tired
Emily - a bit too 90s and I think I prefer Emilie.
Madison - very early 90s, but I like it. I dislike Maddie and I think it feels tired so I wouldn't use it. Weirdly enough I really like Mattie which sounds almost the same in my accent.Aiden - but only spelled Aidan

Isabella and Alexander, because:1) both are sophisticated and also educated-looking;
2) both are well-recognized around the world, making them international names that a child can easily go by in pretty much every country (at least in the Western world);
3) both are easy to write, spell and pronounce;
4) I just like the look and sound of them.

William and Abigail or Emily (tie). I would actually be ok with these if I really had to make the choice. I love all three names.

Alexander and Mia.
Or I might choose Sophia "Sophie" on some days, Chloe on others, but most days I think Mia.
Alexander is a name I considered, and I would not consider any other names on that list.

Mason off the boys :) Love it, on my top ten!
Olivia from girls :) really pretty

Ava and Noah. Sophia and Aiden are a close second.

Well, first of all I don’t care so much about general popularity as I do popularity among my family and friends. So for girls I like Sophia, Isabella, Emma, Olivia and Emily, but would use Sophia, because I love it and don't know anyone with this name personally and I like the possibility of Sonja or Žofa as a nickname. For boys I like William, Noah and Alexander, but would use William mostly because I'd get to use Liam as a nickname (I also like Will).

Emily called Emmie and William. I'd be fine with these irl.

Mia and William - because I like them the most!
Although if it was the top ten in Australia, where I live, I would choose Ruby and Oliver.

For girls:
Olivia (My great gradmother's name was Ollie so I want to honor her)
Sophia (Its such a beautiful name and it works on a litte girl or a grown woman)
Abigail (Same as Sophia. Plus I happen to be a fan of Abby Scuito from NCIS :D)For Boys:
William (Its a nice classic name plus my great grandmother's maiden name was Williams)
