Ellen
I've always loved Ellen but was more partial to Eleanor as a fn until recently. I haven't had a proper name obsession in awhile and Ellen is it at the moment.WDYT of Ellen? Do you prefer Ellen or Eleanor? And do y'all have any combo suggestions for Ellen? Thanks :)

I prefer Eleanor or even Eleanora but I tend to like longer girl names. But I think Ellen is a great choice too. It sounds strong and down to earth.Ellen Rose
Ellen Lucille

I loooove Ellen and have since I was about eleven. I just think it's a wonderful name though I can't really explain why. It just gives me a good feeling and I love how it sounds and looks.
I certainly prefer Ellen ♥ over Eleanor. My combo for many years has been Ellen Astrid Caroline.

One of my best friends in school was named Ellen so I'm a bit partial to it cos of that. I think it's a very elegant name but I hate Elle/Ellie type nicknames. For that reason, I choose Eleanor as it's also elegant and has more nn possibilities.

I prefer Ellen. Ellen Amaryllis
Ellen Artemisia (both associated with the moon)
Ellen Bridget (both associated with fire)

I like Ellen, I think it's sweeter and earthier than Eleanor. More a name for a farmer's daughter than a noblewoman. There was a little girl up the street from me growing up named Ellen Anne (often called both, but also just Ellen) and she was also kind and helpful. She left me with Great feelings towards it.I think I prefer Ellen oddly enough as Eleanor was high on our list if Hector were a girl.Ellen Maria
Ellen Lisette
Ellen Corrine

I don't get Ellen. It's not bad, but I see nothing special about it. It's not ugly, but it's not pretty either. It's not common, but it's not unusual either. It's just there. Just nothing special to me, but quite a few people seem to think that it is.I far prefer Eleanor.

I like both. I think Eleanor is a little better but Ellen is more versatile (but also has the potential to sound like a "mom name", while Eleanor is too classic to have that problem). Maybe some of these combos will work (I'm not overly fond of most of them):Ellen Diantha
Ellen Magdalene
Ellen Opal
Ellen Bryony
Ellen Marigold
Ellen Laurel
Ellen Joan
Ellen Ivy
Ellen Winter
Ellen Gwendolen
Ellen Jane
Ellen Antonia
Ellen Rose
Ellen Catherina
Ellen Padma
Ellen Theodora
Ellen Rosamund
Ellen Vincente

I really like Ellen, it's a mystery to me why it isn't more popular. It beats the cutesy Ella and the sour Eleanor by a back-road mile, that's for sure.Grace EllenEllen Paige
Ellen Marie
Ellen Victoria
Ellen Samantha

Well considering there are two gay actress/ comedies with that name, it might turn off a few select people! Though they may not be the main reason but a reason to some nonetheless, not that I agree with them!

Love Ellen, and I prefer it over Eleanor although both are lovely. I think Ellen Anna Leonora or possibly Ellen Anna Matilda are my to-go combos.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. Ellen has been hitting just the right notes for me lately, too. I do prefer Ellen to Eleanor, but not to the less frequently used spelling Elinor, which sometimes visits my No. 1 spot for females.I feel like with Ellen, to make it really musical-sounding as a combo, you should choose a middle name with three or four syllables with the tonic stress on the second syllable. Examples:Ellen Susannah
Ellen Matilda
Ellen Rebecca
Ellen Eugenia
Ellen Virginia
Ellen Sophia
