[Opinions] Miriam and Jonas
These are now my top favorite names. I'm rather suprised, as my taste has never run towards that type. However, they have made it to the top.I still don't have any other names that call to me. I like Alice and Conrad, but they don't fit the style of Miriam and Jonas. The only other names I like that fit in are Joshus and Jeremiah...and then I'd start the dreaded J theme. Anyone have any other names that fit in? And yes, it's Jonas, NOT Jonah.

I adore both Miriam and Jonas and I think they sound lovely together. I actually think Alice and Conrad would both fit in well with Miriam and Jonas, but maybe you're looking for other Biblical/Hebrew names that would 'fit'? I'll give it a shot. Some suggestions:
Naomi
Esther
Ruth
Adina
Dinah
Adah
Eve
Zipporah
Lydia
Priscilla
DamarisReuben
Ezra
Isaac
Elias / Eli
Tobias / Tobiah
Asa
Zev
Abner
Abram
Asher
Simon
Phineas
Levi
Emmanuel
Barnaby
Luke

I was looking for more Hebrew/Biblical names.I really love Zev, but I will never get to use it - everyone I have ever dated looked at me askew when I suggested it. Simon, Abram, Elias, Eli, Ezra, and Eve are great. I think I want a religious theme more than I realize. I think it's because I want names that exude history and strength. Alice and Conrad really don't have that feeling for me - but Helen, Anton, Jonas, Miriam, Ezra do. Weird.

I met a Zev once. A doctor from Israel.

I tried for Helen. It got shot down so quickly. At this point, I'm hoping I end up married to someone else. :-D (J/K)I love:
Anton
Noble - mainly because I have a great uncle named Royal and Noble would remind me of him
Victor nn Vic - very cool, but Vic wouldn't fly.
Arthur - we both love the name it. However, it's the name of my grandfather, and he's not a nice person.
Amabel - I love, but always shot down.
Fern - my grandmother's name. I never had an issue with her, but my Aunt and Mother did. If I used Fern, I'm not sure my mother would forgive me.It's interesting: A lot of people recommened Rose, Victor, Peter, Ruth, and Anton.

Judith is a family nameI was actually think of Miriam Judith and Cecilia Rose. The rest, I don't like. If Naomi would be pronunced the Hebrew way, I'd use it in an instant. Levi I find disrespectful.I like Noa for a girl quite a bit. Hmm, I think Judith could really work for a first name. Thanks!

I'm glad you liked Judith, but can I ask why do you feel that Levi is disrespectful?

It's a title in the Jewish communitySee here:
This name is often used on babies who, without being Levis (Jewish hereditary priesthood), are of Levi descent.
-- Miss Claire 12/5/2004If you're not of Levi descent, it's pretty disrespectful. Same for Cohen.

Yes, my husband explained about Cohen. (Husband is middle Eastern.)

Ah, I didn't know. I've known a lot of people named Levi (I've even known a man named Leviticus who used it as a nn) and of course with it being the name of brand of jeans, I had no idea that it was disrespectful to some people.

Other names that fit in? Hhhmmm, that's actually tough for me to answer because Miriam and Jonas are two of my favorite names and I'm very tempted to take the easy way out and write "Any name on my favorites list." But enough babbling, it's thinking cap time.Felicity

I really like Ezra and Elias. Geoffrey was my ex's father...not a good connotation. *shudders* The rest aren't my style, save Harriet.

I love both Miriam and Jonas -- great choices. My favorite mn with Miriam is Susanna, pronounced "soo-SAH-na." Perhaps it could work as a sibling too. Other suggestions for siblings to Miriam and Jonas:Sylvia, Eve / Eva, Rose, Sibyl, Renata, Fredrika, Simone, Gabrielle, Petra, Greta, Lena, Rebecca, Cornelia (Nell), Peter, Benedict, Henry, Kurt, Fredrik, Stephen / Stefan, Erik, Isaac, Max, August, Anton, Oscar / Oskar.Miriam and Jonas seem to make me channel Scandinavian names. Weird.

I like a lot of these.Anton has been a perennial favorite that has always been shot down. Lena, Sylvia, Eve, Erik, and August are great. August and Erik are family names.Thanks.
