I like Anya but I don't care about Anastasia though. I think Anya is more beautiful than Anja which is more common in Germany. I also like Aniya (pronounced Uhnee-yuh). The name is yorubian (?)(yoruba is the German word for this) and means welfare and care, sense and importance.

I LOVE Anya! Anastasia is nms, but I do love the movie as well, and Anya makes a nice nickname for it.I like Anya best as a first name, and I once even had the combo Anya Willow on my list. Everyone seemed to agree that it was too "Buffy", and to be fair most people would most likely associate the combo with the show.Anya Jaqueline - Very pretty
Anya Willow - Gorgeous, aside from the previously mentioned connectionSuggestions:Anya Belle

I love both Anya and Anastasia. While I'm usually a stickler for tradition, I give more latitude to nns since I think they are the place for letting one's imagination soar. So sure, Anastasia, nn Anya would be fine. :-)A co-worker named her dd Anja, because she said she wanted a Dutch name. I think the spelling is very pretty. Being Irish, the Aine spelling is also dear to me, but it has a diffrent feeling somehow than Anya (more exotic).I would prefer Anya to be a nn (either or Anastasia or Anna), but if it must stand alone, how about:Anya Katherine / Catherine
Anya Celeste
Anya Rosalind
Anya Nicola
Anya Miranda
Anya Chloe
Anya Hermione
Anya Persephone
Anya Lily
Anya Thalia
Anya Demetria
Anya Theodora
Anya Callista
Anya Vanessa

I love Anya just by itself. It's cute but I can see it aging well. Not a fan of Anastasia however and the movie couldnt be farther than the truth as of what really happened to the Romanov's. Anya Willow is a great combo imo.

I think both Anya and Anastasia are simply beautiful! I too like Anya as a nickname for Anastasia but I also like it by itself spelled Aine because it's Irish that way! I also liked the cartoon version but I also loved the movie Anastasia (1956) with Ingrid Bergman and I loved the true, but sad, history of the real Anastasia. :)Someone suggested Grace Anastasia not too long ago and I fell in love with it! WDYT?Anya Rosalie
Anya Pearl
Anya Caterina
Anya Natalia
Anya Ophelia
Anya Winifred
Anya Gwendolyn
Anya Johanna

Outside of Russia, I think Anya would work well as a nickname for Anastasia. In Russia, Anya is used exclusively as pet form of Anna.I loved the cartoon version, too, no matter how much they butchered the 'real' history, lol. I thought the songs and the story were fabulous.Anyways, back to names. The Celebrity Baby Blog founder recently had a daughter whom she named Anya Lucia. I thought that was gorgeous. Other suggestions:Anya Justine
Anya Catherine
Anya Violet
Anya Kelsey
Anya Solange
Anya Genevieve
Anya Mary
Anya Juliet
Anya Rose

Anya Harriet
Anya Lavinia
