Natalie vs. Samantha
Which one, and why? What would you use as a middle name? **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Natalie. I really like it, and would use it happily. I don’t care for the nickname “Nat” much, but it could be worse.Natalie Victoria
Natalie Danika
Natalie Kate
Natalie Shae
Natalie Brielle
Natalie Brook
Natalie Noelle (yes... I know. It just sounds pretty and I like the alliteration)
I just don’t care for Samantha, much at all. I also don’t like Sam for a girl, and it’s sort of inevitable.

NatalieI like Natalie, but not the nickname Nat. Samantha sounds pragmatic, which is also fine. But I'm not fond of m with the -antha suffix.

NatalieBy far. It sounds simple but romantic. Samantha is incredibly dated. I'd go with Natalie Valentine.

NatalieBecause it is less likely to be shortened. Nearly all Samanthas become Sams.

Natalie is as trite as they come, and Samantha is soporific in the extreme. Rather than use either of them, I'd name a daughter Amiability Reginald.

I'm super biased, obviously.I happen to love my name! Haha. My middle names are Catherine and Irene.Natalie is sweet too. It's elegant and glamorous, but it doesn't have a good nickname.

NatalieIt feels a bit less dated.

I like them both pretty equally. If I had to choose I think I'd pick Samantha, just slightly over Natalie. It's one of the few th-sound names I like. Only drawback is the nn Sam, but it's better than Nat.Samantha NoelleSamantha DawnSamantha LaurenSamantha AshleySamantha Robin

NatalieI knew a not-so-nice person named Samantha once upon a time, and I never even liked the name before. I much prefer Natalie.

SamanthaSamantha sounds practical and intelligent to me. Sam is good and the full name doesn't sound super girly or anything.
Natalie is cute but too sweet, it's just very sticky and sugary. And I don't like Nat. (Natalia is beautiful though. It's just "Natalie" with the emphasis on the "Nat" and the "ie" ending that's sticky sweet.) Samantha Linnet

Samantha Bree
Samantha Brienne
Samantha Briar
Samantha Echo
Samantha Enya

Samantha Jane
Samantha Joan
Samantha Kateri
Samantha Tamar
Samantha Niamh

NatalieI thought Samantha was ugly/synthetic sounding when I was a kid and knowing a bunch of nice Sams hasn't even improved my opinion of it.So, Natalie, even though the natal part strikes me as a bit weird. I thought it was cool in the 90s, and it shares a meaning with my middle name.Natalie Mercedes

I don’t love either, but would probably use Natalie. It’s less dated to me, and has a more pleasing sound. Also, my American Girl doll was Samantha, and it’s very tied to that doll and that character for me.

Natalie!I just added it to my PNL. It’s a long time favorite but it’s perceived blandness has kept it off my list for a while. I pushed that aside because I truly do like the name. It has a soft, pretty sound but sounds like it’d belong to an independent woman.Samantha is just boring. I don’t think the sound is very pretty either. I also don’t really care for Sam or Sammy, they sound very 90’s dated to me.Natalie Amber

I love both names! Though personally I feel Samantha is more mature sounding and Natalie more youthful. As for a middle name, I think Natalie will work with more first names due to the "-ie" sound at the end.
