Give me some regal names please.
Yeah, just some girl names you can associate with royalty. I’m trying to do this little thing right now and I got the males covered but for some reason when I came to girls my mind went a little blank. It can just be 5 or 10 names. Combos are accepted too._______________________________________________________

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to hear Maud, Olga, Claudine, Pauline, Dagmar, Angela, Agnes, or Alberta get called princessy/regal in the US. Interesting.

You don't have to be so rude Anneza, it's kind of unnecessary. Acting like an elitist is never attractive.

All I know is what I see. All I see is what other posters show me. If you don't like it, tough.

Also Anneza, the definition of Regal: of, resembling, or fit for a monarch, especially in being magnificent or dignified. It doesn't mean it "has" to be of actual royalty. A "regal" name could fall under an entire scope of names that just sound royal. I would argue several "real" royal names don't "sound" like royal names at all. Ex: Olga for instance. Maybe you should stop trying to gatekeep?

I don't totally get the problem. I could say any name I liked was magnificent. I'm sure Olga seems grand to a lot of people. OP asked for names associated with royalty, and I assumed that meant actual royalty, too, so not something like Queen, even if I like that. Or even from a Disney perspective, why is Aurora inherently more dignified or princessy than Briar Rose? I'd assume names that seem inherently magnificent or like power names without being associated with IRL royalty or goddesses are probably subversive - which doesn't evoke royalty to me.

The point was the intent which was meant to be snarky & gatekeep-y. & the implications that her views on names falling under the category were inherently "correct & superior" in comparison to those that had a more liberal opinion of "regal" names. She's been going out of her way to make remarks on commenters more than names themselves lately & it's rude.

Wording & intentions are everything. You've been going out of your way to act like a bully lately & not just express your opinion on names. That is very uncool of you.

How is Anneza's response rude?

It's been apparent for at least a few weeks now she's been going out of her way to make rude comments on the posters themselves & not just the names.

I mean it's obvious, isn't it? With the Disney comment & the implications behind it? It was obviously at least Partially targeted at me because of with I had posted earlier in the thread.

I think that's an overreaction, to be honest. The names you mentioned are very much used by real royals, and I didn't see Anneza's comment as offensive - different people will think of different names as regal. And I don't think someone expressing that they don't think a certain name is regal is gatekeeping.

You're right the reaction was a bit too extreme, but I still stand by the general sentiment of what I expressed.

There's actually a "lesser prominent royals" page on here somewhere with a ton of names if I remember correctly. Prince Harry & princesses Beatrice & Eugenie are on it so you might be able to find it that way. I always think of royal names not just in terms of actual royal names but also including fanciful & regal-sounding names. So like 75% of my PNL imo.
