Need help for a name for baby Mac-
Hi everyone! I used to be a frequent poster on here a few years back, but hadn’t been on the forums in a while. Now I’m expecting my first baby in June, I thought it was the perfect time to pop back on for your help and advice!I had no problem coming up with a top 10 of names every month before I was married and actually now need to make this decision with my husband’s approval too... turns out he doesn’t have much of the same taste as me! It’s going to take me a while to get used to a name before I’m happy with it for definite so we’re starting the search now and are struggling a bit!We both kind of like the below names but aren’t 100% happy with any of them and were after your help with suggestions for other names we might like please:Arthur
ArchibaldArchie
Hamish
Ivor
Angus
FrederickFreddieDaisy
Evie
Ruby
PenelopePenny
Adalind
Ivy Surname is a proper Scottish Mac- name, so would need to go with that. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

lol when I read your name and the title of this thread (specifically the Mac part), I thought for a split second you were country singer Scotty McCreery, and I was gonna congratulate you and say how big a fan I was! haha but then, McCreery doesn't start with Mac, exactly...and apparently, you're a girl...from Scotland...I need to go to bed.Congrats anyway, though! :)

I really like Arthur, Daisy and Eve / Eva. While I adore Evie, I don't care for it as a stand alone. Penelope ("Penny") is nice too.

Nice names, mostly! Would you use Archibald, or always Archie? I'd be happier with just Archie (I dated an Archie once. He tossed cabers!), but I like Frederick with Fred(die) as nns.I like both Hamish and James, so I'd test them to find out which was best with the surname.I also like Angus, and Fergus, but I'm not so happy with Gus as a nn. Magnus? Marcus? What about Ruaridh or indeed Rory?I think Evie needs to be short for something: Evelyn or Eva or Eve. Or, Lyneve blows my skirt right up!Adalind looks unfinished and would surely lead to a lifetime of explanations. Just Ada? Adrienne? Ivy and Ruby are both more popular than I can understand, and not particularly Scottish at that. They wouldn't make a list of mine.My favourites, both of which I'd use, are Daisy and Penelope (Penny). Could Margaret work? Or Annabel? Both with a lovely long tradition of use in Scotland. Or Flora, though not if she'll be a McDonald! Fiona is pretty, but rather recent. Alison? Matilda?
