[Opinions] Dinah & Alice
I went to go see an Alice in Wonderland play last night with my boyfriend. I forgotten the name of Alice's cat was Dinah. I have always hated the name, but for some reason when they said it I thought it sounded nice. What do you think of Dinah? Any cute mn's that could make it better? Also, I am pretty much in love with the name Alice. If I could ever change my name I would definitely make it Alice. I think I would like to name a future daughter this, but is I don't know, would it be weird to name her a name that I would also name myself? Any mn ideas for Alice?***Note: I don't think I would use Alice and Dinah in the same sibset, so don't worry about that. Thanks!

I love the name Alice, but I am Elise and having an Elise and Alice in the same family would be too much IMO. It's a shame because it would definitely be a name I would consider for a prospective daughter.
I don't think it is weird using a name you would consider for yourself. I would use Ruby and I often say I would rename myself Ruby. Ruby conjures up charactaristics that I love and consider the better side of me and they are qualities I would like my daughter to have. I really have no problem with it at all.
I quite like Dinah and would be very happy to see it on someone else's child but can't see myself ever considering it.

Alice - I love this name, it's traditional, well-known yet not too common. It's the kind of name that'll always be in fashion.
Dinah - OK, not sure whether I like it or not, it's a kind of neutral name for me. As for nicknames I suppose Di?

I like Dinah, mainly *because* of the association with Alice in Wonderland. But sometimes it sounds like someone with an accent saying the word diner, so I picture a greasy truck-stop type restaurant and that makes me like it less. How about Diana? An extra "ah" sound in there, and you could pair is with Alice too. Alice Diana? I love Alice too though btw.

Both names are very nice. Dinah has been a longtime favorite of mine, ever since seeing Disney's Alice in Wonderland as a child. For middle names I like Dinah Eleanor, Dinah Charlotte, Alice Amelia and Alice Victoria.
