[Opinions] John
Falling for John. I know it's plain and boring to some, but I think it's strong. What do you think of it? If you had to pair it with a more colorful middle name, what would you go with?

The branches of my family tree are bending low under the weight of John William people! As far as I know, they all went by Jack.
I like John too, and I'd personally never use Jack as a stand-alone name, but that's just me.
John Keith Robin would be surprising. John Gregory. John Richard. Not that they're colourful exactly, but the current scarcity of John people would make anything work.
I read once about a John who started school in England - secondary school presumably - and after a few days came home in a towering rage and demanded of his parents "What did you give me a weird name like John for? Why couldn't I have a normal name like Jason or Justin?"

I'm one of those who thinks it is utterly plain, boring, and incrediably overused but keep in mind I've known at least 50 Johns in my lifetime so far. That being said, I don't hate the name or roll my eyes when I see it but I would never use it. I would like to see it paired with a less common name like Donovan (maybe that wasn't the greatest example but you see where I'm going, hopefully).
Strong yes, plain and boring, also yes. I don't mind the sound, but too generic. My brother is named John.
I like John-- in a sea of people trying too hard to be different, it really stands out!
I like John Henry (like from the story...), John Marcus, John Robin, John Gordon, John Titus, John Atlas, John Christopher, John Ruarc, John Marius, and John Peregrine.

Ooh, John's a difficult one. I'm started to like it myself, completely due to character associations, but part of me is still sick of it. I mean it's not so popular now, but I feel like literally every other guy used to be called John. I do quite like it though. I'm having the same problem with Anna, though I'm less dubious about adding that somehow. As for middles:
John Horatio
John Lorenzo
John Amadeus
and John Matteo are my immediate thoughts, just out of the blue, well, off my boys' list.

Yeah I like it. I use to think it was painfully boring but you don't encounter it that often on younger kids so it's actually kind of refreshing. Plus it's my "father in laws" name and he's such a great guy that it makes me appreciate the name more for honoring purposes.
Elior John and John Ellis are my go-to John combos but I agree it generally needs a middle name with some 'oomph'
John Philippe (ok adding this to my own list)
John Achilles
John Somerled
John Rembrandt
John Geronimo (fun!)
John Tecumseh
John Hawley
John Sylvester
John Beauregard
John Ptolemy
John Fabian
John Melchior
John Darius
John Templeton (yes!)
John Socrates
John Kimball
John Isaac
John Valerie / John Valerius (whatever, I like Valerie better)

I like John a lot. I have a boss named Jonn who is pretty great. I've started to like Jon and Jonn more than John. I would probably use Jonn or John in real life because Jon is pronounced differently to me (Yoon, which I loved when I was younger).
John is a handsome, solid name, so when it comes to middle names you can go a bit crazy, in my opinion.
John Xanthe - a GP favorite of mine
John Eldorado
John Fairytale
John Fox
John Zacchaeus
John Salathiel

I've also been liking John more and more lately. It's friendly and no-nonsense, and basically anything else you want or need it to be given its commonness.. It's reliable.
I sort of like John Baptist / Baptiste as a combo, but that's strictly a GP.
Maybe...
John Peregrine
John Wallace
John Hazael
John Parsifal
John Habakkuk
John Josephus
John Manasseh
John Nicomedes
John Archimedes
John Colbert
John Leofwine
John Bedivere
John Zerubbabel
John Xochipilli
John Zephaniah
John Ithiel
John Heliodoro
John Hector
John Judd (just for fun)
The thing about John is that it can pretty much go with any name, which is kind of a bad thing for me, since they all sound fine so I can never seem to find that one that sticks out enough to make me wanna use it.

I love John. I think it's a great name. I do think it needs a more exciting middle name to spice things up a bit though.
Unfortunately I have zero ideas for exciting middle names.

I love John. It's one of my favorite names. It's an important name that's often overlooked as boring, yet I've never actually known a boring or ordinary John. I also really just love the way it looks; if it were spelled Jon on its own, I definitely wouldn't like it as much. Johnny and Jack are also A+.
My go-to for years was John Ferdinand or John Paul Ferdinand. Lately I've been opting for John Pascal "JP".

You really can't go wrong with John. It goes everywhere at any time.
