Need new names.
I only have a few more weeks to go and i'm really starting to doubt all the names that we like!! At this stage I just can't picture a baby named Daphne or Winifred. We have always just referred to her as 'turtle' and now a real name doesn't seem to be.. well.. real?
Hubby is completely happy with Daphne Winifred Mathilda / Daphne Mathilda Winifred but i'm not so sure. I'm sure that when she is here we will feel completely different, but i'm wondering if we should add some 'new' names to the list in case we completely backflip. The names we have/are considering:
Daphne
Winifred
Hilda (pretty much off the table now though, due to my grandmother hating her own name)
Edwina
TheodoraNames that I like that he doesn't:
Wilhelmina (he doesn't mind it but doesn't love it)
Rowena (he hates it! :( )He also really likes Seraphine and I detest it.Suggest us some names! Any names!

It looks like you indeed might need to try to not think about names for like a week, to try and get a new breath of air.It seems to me you like Germanic-ish names. I made a list a while ago of Slavic names that have Dutch (aka Germanic) versions, so if you'd like, have a look at it, put it on listed by gender, and see if you like any: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/160094/109315Some of my favourites of the list are (their Anglophone versions):
- Emilia
- Josephine/a
- Petra
- Elena
- AnastasiaIf you're still stuck, you could try sending a message to the Name Sage from NameBerry.Best of luck! I'm sure you'll figure it out :)

someone in another thread said Arabella has a whimsical sound to it, so how about that?

I think you're on baby name overload. Take a few days off and see how you feel about the names. You don't need new one, just a fresher outlook. Can't wait to find out which winner of a name she gets. :0)

haha. At this stage she may have no name! Or i'll just have to get husband to name her!!

I could never picture the name on an actual baby either, until the baby was actually here. In the case of DD it took nearly a year for her name to entirely feel right for me. So I don't think you're alone in your feelings at all. I say either pick your favorite name and stick with it, or decide between Daphne, Edwina, Theodora, and Winifred when baby gets here. Many times a baby just "looks" like one name more than the other. I wouldn't add new names to choose from at this point because I think you're really only having cold feet. :)

Your listed names have a lot of "ween" sounds in them. Maybe go in a softer, briefer direction.
Minna -- short for Wilhelmina (my favorite name, and I would not use Wilhelmina)
Della
Iris
Alice
Enid
Irene
Fern
Una
Rosina
Leda
WinonaI'd just go with Theodora if you like that one. Theo on a girl is really good. Love Theo.Georgina and Georgia are also really adorable, I think. Georgie for a girl is comforting.

I understand how you're feeling. We hadn't agreed on a name at all when the twins decided it was time to come into the world, and we ended up naming them something we hadn't been considering for months.
Anyway, names that come to mind:Fiona
Odilia
Olivia
Cecilia
Etta
Melania
Georgiana
Geraldine
Delphine

I didn't know you had your babies! Congratulations! The names sound great. I don't post a ton, but I check the board multiple times a day usually and had been following your naming journey. :)

Thank you so much. It was quite a journey and we didn't end up where we expected, but we're very happy about the names. We love them and they've got a lot of meaning to us.

Ingrid? Thats the first that comes to mind, as you have a bit of a German vibe. Maybe also Frieda or Inga?
I can also see Augustine, Conscina, Dorthelia, Margaretha, Demetria, Edmonia, Domitilla, Ethel, Agnes, Agatha, Florence, Lucille, Luscinia, Minerva, Millicent, Olivette, Prudence, Raphaella, Sabella, Sybil, Thomasina, and Wilma.

Noooo, say it isn't so?! I've been so looking forward to hearing you announce the arrival of Daphne! It's perfectly normal to get stressed about choosing the right name, especially for us name nerds and especially since she is nearly here. Tbh I think throwing more names into the mix will just make you more stressed and confused about the whole process! You wouldn't want to go with something totally new and different when she's born and then regret not using Daphne later, since it's pretty much been your #1 choice for ages. All the best with the remainder of the pregnancy and your precious little girls arrival :)

haha. I know, it's not that I don't like it anymore.. it's just that I can't imagine a baby named Daphne.. I can't even describe what I even mean.. it's weird. Maybe it's just the whole looming thought that I might actually have a real baby to name in 3 weeks. I guess the weight of it has dawned on me! That and my family's negative opinions on Daphne have me worried that it's a horrible name. The kids at school were asking me if I had any names and I was too unsure to actually say what i liked!Don't worry, our girls list is so short that I can't see us changing our minds.

You'll probably call her The Baby for a while, we always did. Then you make an effort, and call her by her name, and it will sound odd for a while.Like new shoes. But then it will settle in.

I can totally imagine a baby Daphne and I don't think I have ever met anyone with this name before! I like the fact that it's not common for little girls these days. None of my family members really liked the name Jasper before he was born, but now they are obviously so used to it and love him immensely, that they don't care at all. Either way, I'm sure when your daughter is born you will figure out exactly what her name is supposed to be :)

-Harriette

Thanks! I like-Phillipa
-Harriette
-Magnolia
-MirabelleI really love Phillipa, however my cousin (who I no longer speak to) has a daughter Pippa, so it's probably unusable.
Harriet is my cats name lol
Magnolia is very pretty but not sure if I like it enough for a FN, MN definitely!
Mirabelle, very pretty. Hadn't considered this but wonder if its too 'modern' sounding for our other names that we like...
vote up1
I wouldn't discount Phillipa because of a cousins daughter. Particularly if you'll never see that cousin. The name is similar to her daughter, not your cousin, so it's not like you're naming her after your cousin. So it comes down to how the name makes you feel. Which does Phillipa make you feel more : love for the name, or dislike for your cousin?
vote up1
What about Miramar as an alternative to Mirabelle? Also, I think its too far from your circle to be concerned about the name of a child of a removed cousin you no longer speak to. Its like not naming your kid Mary because a friend of a friend gave her kid that name. Phillipa is pretty.

Well, take off the table any name only one of you likes. That'll make it a bit easier.PriscillaVeronicaDianaCamilla/CamilaCarlotta

Not keen on any of the others, but Simone keeps coming back to me. It's my middle name and it's got a bit of significance as my dad randomly picked it out without mums opinion etc. and ended up settling for it. He always uses my middle name as an affectionate thing :)

Simone is really lovely. It has a blues vibe thanks to Nina Simone.

I'd never use Simone myself, but it has a glamorous, elegant feel to it without being bloated up.How's about:DionneMarcellaDominiqueGeorginaLiana/Leanna
