Boy name... only 3.5 months
I'm feeling lost with names for our upcoming baby boy. I'm going to give names we have considered in the hope that you'll use these to give wonderful suggestions!Names I like, but my husband doesn't:
Paul
LukeNames we like but won't use:
Ewan - Because it will be mispronounced and we don't want anything that ends in N
James- cousin's name
Henry - uncle's name
Joseph - cousin's name
Walter - this is really falling down on my list
Hector - I still really like this, but my husband doesn't really care for it anymore
Enzo - We like this, but I don't want to use a nn for a fn. My husband doesn't like Lorenzo, and I don't like anything else that can be shortened to Enzo.
Job - Pronounced with a long O sound. I've liked this for awhile but I'm so unsure about the teasing issue. I don't think we'll use it.
Douglas - really love and would use except for the tragic history of this name in our family
Llyr - don't really like anymore... maybe too cool for usI'm reconsidering Piers - prounounced PEERZ. this was on our list long ago before Piers Morgan became famous in the US. I've actually never seen his show (I don't watch TV) but our surname is Marten, and I think Piers Marten is too similar to Piers Morgan. Do you think so? I really liked this because my husband's name is Peter and this is a variant. My children's names:
Daughter - $ a g e
Son - C y r u $I don't want to use anything with a strong S sound and I don't want anything that begins with M or ends in M or N because it's too much with the surname. I want something more classic that balances with our other names.

Well, I love your children's names and almost all of your list! I really like Piers and think it goes great with your kids' name. I would not worry about Piers Morgan because kids won't know who he is at all and then by the time your Piers is an adult, I doubt Piers Morgan will be much of a prominent figure (and I don't think he is now either). And Piers Marten flows great!Suggestions:Anthony
Nigel
Roscoe

I used to like Anthony but can't make myself like it anymore.I'm rather inspired that others think Piers would work. My husband is probably most tolerant about that name. He really doesn't suggest names, just vetoes them.

Clark really jumped out at me. That's interesting because I don't really like surname names. Also, I don't usually care for the hard K sound. Hmmm.

Gosh, I really like the name Cyrus.
(I think the "smarten" is funny in a cool way)
So ... no M, no N at end, no S.
Conrad. Cyrus and Conrad Marten. Of course. Have you considered Conrad?I would not use Piers if my surname were Marten. It is too similar for me. I wouldn't say it is totally unusable, but I wouldn't use it.Kendrick, Charles, David, Robert, Alexander, Elliot, Neil, Richard, Leonard "Leo", Dexter, Fletcher

I was really inspired and suggested Conrad to my husband who said "No way," and laughed at me.I like Robert, but it's the name of another of my husband's uncles. His family used up all the good names, and he won't use any of them!I like Alexander, but know several and wouldn't use it.

I used to like Abel and Jude but can't make myself like them now.

Going with the Enzo thing, I think some of these may be a little bit of a stretch but maybe one of them will work with Enzo as a nn?Vincenzo

My husband would never go for these. He prefers names that sound more English.

All I did was put some of your suggestions and previous kids' names into nymbler: http://www.nymbler.com/

Oh, I'll try nymbler. Haven't done that in a long time!Jack used to be one of our favorites, but it's so common, and I also don't like the idea of using a nn, but then I don't care for John either.Isaac used to be high on my list, but my best friend name her little boy Isaac, so off the list again.David is a favorite of mine and a family name, but my husband doesn't like it. I think he doesn't like the nn, Dave. I think it's very handsome.I'd like to like Charles, but can't because of acquaintances and because I'd just cringe if anyone called him Chuck.

I like Jasper, but it is a complete no-go with my husband.I really like Hugo (and Hugh) but my husband doesn't like that one at all either. Some of the other names are nice in theory but they wouldn't work for us in real life. I actually like Amos, but teasing would be a problem with this name.

Piers Marten sounds lovely, I don't think it's too close to Piers Morgan. How about:
Bede
Bennett
Conrad
Daniel
Donald
Ezra
Finn
Gabriel
Ian
Jonah
Joel
Levi
Oscar
Xavier
William

My husband and I both like Daniel. But there are two reasons we wouldn't use it:
1. It's the name of my husband's sister's live-in boyfriend / father of her child. I really don't know what to call him. They aren't engaged, and she doesn't call him her boyfriend or partner, just his name. Anyway, we wouldn't use the name because of that connection.
2. Danny Boy is my son's favorite lullaby song, and I think he is already feeling displaced with the new baby, so would especially dislike a Daniel / Danny.I like Ian and William alright for others, but not myself, especially with the N and M ending. Donald is a family name and we've considered it, but I just don't really like it. Donald itself isn't bad but I don't care for Don or Donny. Kind of odd since Dan and Danny don't bother me.
