Gemma/Megan - Ex's of my boyfriend.

Hannah Violet - I quite like this one.
Ruth - NMS.
Isabel Lucy - I like but I feel Lucy is too close to Louise (My daughter's second name)
Alexandra - I'm not sure on this one I'v never really liked Alexandra.
Patricia - Too old fashioned for me.
Emily - I like but I'm unsure on Emily.
Victoria/Sophia/Sophie - Are my daughter's 2 best friends names.
Stella Edith - I quite like this one.Any you like? My favourite's are Isabel Lucy and Millie Alexandra though I'd prefer Milly - I don't like Milly. Millie is a more common spelling in the UK so it's more known.

My sister is Helen Lucy and I am Katie Louise. It's never been a problem, so I think Amy Louise and Isabel Lucy would be fine. Maybe you're overthinking this a bit?
vote up1
I'm not over thinking it. My children go by both there names and since my daughters is hyphenated she is frequently called Amy-Louise and NN'd LouLou most of the time. So as we use both names Amy might get confused when she hears the Lou part and think I'm talking to her.

Just since it's relevant: my name is Charlotte and my brother's name is Charles. First names. And until he was an adult, he went by Charlie. It was only ever a problem when someone was calling one of us from across the house and both of us would answer.

That sounds confusing. - My cousin goes by Charlie/Char so I know what you mean.

It is/was kind of confusing. We'd also get mail only addressed to our first initial followed by our last name from time to time, and sometimes we'd have to open it to figure out who it was for. But that could happen in any family with two or more with the same initials (my husband's, for example, where all four siblings names' begin with 'K'); we were just the only two C-names out of eight children.

I can imagine that being horrible. My name was going to be Tamsin and with my son being Thomas I'm glad it's not that would be confusing when it came to mail.

Stella Rose is nice. :) Also Felicity Anne. - I quite like these. These are my faves of your suggestions - Isabel Joyce/Rosemary Joy/Rosina May/Ruby Maria/Stella Jean/Vera Joy.Claire/Elizabeth/Grace/Jane - Can't use these as they are related to a ex of my boyfriends in some way.Amelia - My daughter is called Amy named after an Amelia so it's out.Ariana/Moira/Ruth/Irene/Cecily/Josephine/Miriam/Rebecca/Juno/Diane/Melinda/Daphne - NMS.Rowan - I don't like Unisex names.Catherine - I like but I have a friend called Catherine.Ruby Jean - I love this one but would be a bit strange as Ruby is a family name and Jean is her daughter.
Cassandra - I like but I don't think my boyfriend will go for it.Naomi - it's nice but I have a friend who's got a daughter Naomi.Vera Nell - Feels incomplete.

I would actually give a kid family/friend names as middle names specifically because they were family/friend names (so long as I liked the names), but okay.Since you don't like unisex names, I guess Jean wouldn't work anyway, since it can be a boy's name too.Glad you liked some of my suggestions!

I don't mind using family/friend names i just wouldn't use a name of someone I see all the time it wouldn't feel right to me.I never knew Jean was a unisex name. I like Jean though as it's a family name.

It's pronounced differently for males. More like Zhawn? (It's French.) But it's spelled exactly the same. And there's a masculine name pronounced the same as Jean for a girl: Gene. Like Gene Kelly. Usually sort for Eugene, I think.
vote up1
I'v heard of Eugene/Gene as really far back in my boyfriends family tree they came from France so I seen quite a few of them. That being said I never knew it was similar to Jean.
vote up1
Gene and Jean are unrelated as far as I know; it's just that they are pronounced exactly the same. It's Jean, the French form of John, that's spelled the same (and also related).
vote up1
That's interesting. If Jean is French form of John I can't use anyway then as my son's first MN is John.

John is one of those names that's ended up with sooooo many forms across languages and cultures. Jane, Janet, Ian, and Ivan are also forms of John. You can see a list of them here: http://www.behindthename.com/name/john/related
