Triplets I heard of plus a question
Anna, Emily, and Alison "Allie" WDYT?. (They're tweens I think.)I imagine a lot of people will find these unbelievably dull. So. In reaction to that, I have a challenge. If you had triplet girls and had to use names typically considered "dull" what would you choose?

It is a very dull set indeed. I love Allie, though. For me it's easy, if I had triplets they'd be
Lucy, Mary and Anne

Surprisingly dull but still likeable would be Ann, Mary, and Elizabeth.
Surprisingly dull and unlikeable would be McKayla, McKenna, and Madison.

You are right, I find these very boring! What would I use, hmm that's a good challenge. Let me see....dull names.....Jane for sure, I like that name but it's very dull. Rose is also pretty dull but lovely.Laura is such a classic that I hardly even register it as a name, but it is actually quite nice, and I have a much-beloved Laura in my life, so:Jane, Rose, and Laura. I feel like I should say Jane, Rose, and Anne to make all the names follow the same pattern, 4 letters ending in an e! But I don't think I could ever pick Anne.

If I'd been naming those trips, I'd have gone Anne, Alice and Emily. Except, I wouldn't, because if two names alliterate, so should the third. But at least there'd be a regular progression in length.Jennifer, Jessica and Joanna? Abigail, Alexa and Angela? Daisy, Heather and Iris? Ruth, Rachel and Rebecca? Addison, Madison and Taylor? Hannah, Brianna and Natalie? There is a horrible fascination in this, like watching an unattractive snake slowly swallow something small and fluffy and struggling.

Anna and Emily go quite well together, but Alison feels dated.I’ll go with Elizabeth, Sarah and Katherine. I guess a lot of my favourites could be considered dull!

I suppose it is a little dull, but I've always loved Anna, and I have a soft spot for Alison bc of a friend of mine who passed away a couple years ago, so overall I actually kinda like it.If I had to use "dull" names... hm. I'd include Anna but that feels like cheating here, somehow. So. I think maybe I'd go with Alyssa, Jessica, and Natalie. Are those dull or just dated? Is there a difference? Hard to say.If I wanted to dress them up a bit: Alyssa Thomasina, Jessica Ingrid, and Natalie Delphina.

Jessica sparkles, I wouldn't say it was a dull nameYes it is dated, but it isn't flat or dull IMO.

Alison stands out in that set as slightly odd.Dull names I can tolerate: Anna, Rose, Claire.
Others that I don’t have much tolerance for: Lily, Grace, Ella.

I like Anna, but not Emily or Alison and they are very dull, sorry.I'm not entirely sure what names other people consider dull, but I think I'd go with Beatrice (Bee), Victoria (Vicky) & Elisabeth (Beth or Betty). They're pretty dull compared with the names I gave my actual children but I still like them.

Haha I know an Allison "Allie" who's a triplet. She has two brothers, though. Alexander and Jason, I believe.I like how each pair of names sounds together, but I have a small vendetta against using the same initial for two triplets (or siblings ingeneral) and not the other. I think I'd feel left out if it were me!Alice Ruth
Sarah Grace
Laura June

Wow SUPER dull!Hmm. I’m trying to not lean into like old-fashioned dull like Mary but TRUE dull like Emily and Allison.Julia, Laura, AlexandraJulia Phoebe, Laura Cordelia, Alexandra AltalunaOR for dull middles...
Julia Rose, Laura Frances, Alexandra AnnaETA: none of y’all have accessed a node of true dullness except for Rox.

At first I was going to choose something like "Jane, Norma, and Betty" but I wasn't sure if I was being fair - like are those names actually dull? Actually? No, if we posted a BA of Jane, Norma and Betty people would react strongly. But I see what you mean. Like Wordsmith's set (the first names) isn't dull at all to me, but Rox's sure is. Julia is way too beautiful to be truly dull for me, same with Alexandra, but Laura was one of my picks too.

For me it’s about a statement. Jane Norma and Betty is vintage sewing machines and stuff. Mary is a staunch conservatism. Who is naming kids Julia? Frickin anybody. It doesn’t have a particular style.

Triplets I heard of plus a questionHmmm..At the most basic I'd probably go your standard Sarah, Elizabeth and Rachel. This was a pretty standard sister set in my religious small town growing up. Conservative but maybe not as basic: Scarlett, Audrey and RubyIvy, Violet and HollyLucy, Molly and ZoeyEva, Phoebe and HattieAlice, Margaret and LouiseLisa, Valerie and RobinSophia, Olivia, IsabellaSamantha, Katherine and Charlotte Jessica, Jennifer and Jacqueline Daisy, Lily and Violet (real multiple sister names)Chelsea, Miranda and Nichole

I like all the names. Alison the most, Emily the least.
They seem "dull" on a name board but IRL they are nice.My list:
Julia, Rose, Claire, Charlotte, Amy, EveI'd name them ... Amy, Claire, and Julia most likely.
Rose, Charlotte, and Eve are names I love but probably would not use.

Hmmm, well if I was gonna go with dull names, I wouldn't also make all of the begin with vowels for starters. What about:Sarah
Rose
May Boring but sweet, I think.

Anna and Emily go nicely together but Alison "Allie" really sticks out to me in a bad way. I don't have anything against Alison (but strongly dislike Allison) but Allie (this is at least the best spelling) sounds so 80s/90s. Even though Emily and Anna are bland I can see their appeal and they are cute together. Alison feels more dated.I would have done Anna, Emily and Lucy or Anna, Emily and Rose.Hmm this is hard. I love Lily and Claire which are common but I don't find them dull, especially not together.Lily, Claire and Annabel? But I find this rather lovely than dull.Okay I'll try harder: Claire, May and Elinor? I still can't really find it dull.Isla, Lily and Claire?Okay I guess to make it really dull (to me) I have to go out of the "names I love" category into the "names I like" category because I can't see a name I love as dull.Mary, Rose and Lynn.It is the best I can do and I still find Lynn refreshing hahahaReally dull to me would be:Hannah, Grace and Abigail
Ella, Ava and Chloe
Jennifer, Jessica and Julissa
Emma, Sarah and Laura

Emma, Sarah and Laura actually works well in the sense that it is really really dull. Even though I like Sarah.

I went through the same process, I kept accidentally picking things that seemed refreshing, lol! I started with Jane, Betty and Norma and was like, no way, that's too rad. Then went to Jane, Rose, and May but then that seemed too sweet. Then I switched to 80s names and thought of Laurel, Kathryn, and Julie, but those all had way too much personality!

IMO Lily is super dull (I like it but it’s dull).

BoooooringYou're right, this is numbingly dull. Ugh.I'd opt for Joan, Clare, and Ruth, I think. Their middle names would be ostentatious: Joan Themistoclea
Clare Sosipatra
Ruth Endelienta

Jane, Helen, & RuthETA: I know three sisters named Michelle, Laura, and Amanda, and I always felt like that hit the mark of genuine dullness. I hate it though

Anne, Laura and Rachel I suppose, those are "dull" names I'm actually quite fond ofBut yes the above sibset is very boring, and somewhat annoying that only 2 of them start with A

Alison seems rather surname-y next to Emily and Anna. And I wonder why they didn't spell it Allison, since Allie is the nickname.

I like Anna and Allie, hate Alison, and am intensely indifferent to Emily.Jean, Ruth, Marie*
Zoe, Maeve, Gwen
Hope, Ray, Pearl
Jane, Rose, Clare
Simone, June, Violet
Renee, Louise, Michelle
Joy, Irene, Sophia
Olivia, Diana, Theresa ...I can't tell if those qualify as dull because I do like all of them, but most of them seem like filler names.

Anna and Emily are so dull as to be placeholder names. Alison I like a lot (though I usually spell it with two l's) and while it's not really out of place with the other two, it does seem less default than the others. If anything, Emily stands out a bit because it starts with an e rather than a.Jessica, Brianna and Ashley seem to be considered dull on the board, I don't know about other places.

Personally, the only names I find dull are Emily, Macy, and Nicole. The only name that I really like out of them is the name Emily. While it was SUPER popular in the 2000s (my gen), and while I've met 10 Emily's in my lifetime alone...it's still very pretty and classy. Just, a little overused. Every time I say it sounds kind of bland, and uncomfortable. But also, beautiful and heart warming. I love Emily.
