Hermione is steadily becoming one of my all-time favorite names. I'm not particularly worried about the inevitable association with Harry Potter, because it's such a lovely name and Hermione Granger is a strong character.I'm glad to see someone else who loves Briony. My SO hates it, so no little Brionys for me, but I adore it anyway.

love Joseph, Thomas, Lukas and Gabriel. I like Noah too

Madeleine -awesome.
Sarah nn Sadie -Sadie is fun.
Rose -cool as a first name, but not a filler middle name.

Thank you for the detailed feedback!Natalie is my own name and mother's name and Virginia nn Ginny honors my beloved late grandmother, so both of those would honor if I chose them.Joseph and Lea/Leia have been growing on me a lot lately, as have Sadie and Damien. I struggle with Lea/Leia because the accent would not work well in the US and because, while I am fine with a Star Wars association, I wouldn't want to burden a daughter with the spelling if she didn't want it. I'm considering it for a middle name though!
vote up1
Madeleine- Beautiful
Elisabeth nn Ellie- Love this!
Hermione- Will always make me think of Harry Potter
Natalie- Pretty and simple
Léa / Leia- I like Lea
Sarah nn Sadie- I love Sadie but not sure if it works with Sarah IMO
Rose- Lovely
Briony- Not my style
Ann / Annie- A little plain, I like it for a mn though
Virginia nn Ginn- Interesting.Joseph- Lovely
Robert- Too old fashioned and would be afraid of the nn Bob
Thomas- Nice
Damien- Love this!
Arthur- it's alright
James- Adorable
Luke / Lucas (loo-KA)- Nice
Alden- Very cute
Gabriel- lovely
Noah- not too fond of this name.
vote up1
Thanks for the feedback!Sadie is an old-fashioned nickname for Sarah, kind of like Bess for Elizabeth or Polly for Mary.I also dislike Bob/Bobby as a nickname for Robert. I much prefer Robbie. Robert also looks like it will be a middle name choice rather than a first name.I'm glad you like Elisabeth with the nickname Ellie. My SO actually came up with Ellie when I expressed how much I liked Elisabeth, but don't like Beth or Liz. It's really grown on me. :)

Isn't Josèphe Estelle simply gorgeous?! I thought of that one last night and I am just head over heels! They are two names I found in my family tree, some great-great grandsomething-or-others.You are right, Jean Baptiste does need a middle name. I'm just not sure on that one. I don't want to pair it with any of my usual choices, and excavating new names takes time. I like the rather insubstantial Jean Baptiste Rudy because it is so fun, but should it be Jean Baptiste Rudolph? I do prefer just Penny over Penelope. I'd kind of like a "full" name for Penny, but kind of not. For one thing there are not many options, and for another there is something simple and quaint and kind of dark about just-Penny that has me currently hypnotized. I just need to find a good middle name to bring out that sense of unease and secrecy that I get from Penny (as opposed to highlighting its propensity to be rather air-headed).Haha, Elvis Larry was a Name Genie combo, I just adore it, it is so silly and joyfully self-unaware.
vote up1
I love quirky and kind of ugly/so wrong they are right combos. I prefer Jean Baptiste Rudy as a combo, because of how fun it is. And I prefer Penny over Penelope too. ( I think you are dead-on about the qualities of Penny, it's so perfect as a full name, because it's so wrong!)And let me say, I think Elvis Larry is absolutely adorable. I imagine a really fun but sweet grandpa, makes my heart flutter to think of it on a little boy!

Beatrix -so fun.
Eloise -nice.
Anna -much better than Anne, imo.
Eleanor -I know people complain that this is too popular on these boards, but it's a great name.
Clara -lovely.
Henry -timeless
Graham -awesome
Gilbert -always kind of liked the nerdy, yet sophisticated sound of Gilbert. Plus, it reminds me of What's Eating Gilbert Grape which I adore.
Frederick -cool. I like the nn Fritz.
Jasper -met a baby named this yesterday. I like it.

Lydia
Cecily
Beatrix
Rose
Eleanor
Clara
DelphineTheodore
Duncan
GrahamCombo comments:
Lydia Rosemary - beautiful flow
Cecily Anne - pretty, but a bit too tender/delicate
Cecily Delphine - mixing genres (I wouldn't suggest a middle name starting with 'd' for Cecily)
Cecily June - now this is a bit more like it; very nice
Eloise Vivienne - It looks pretty, but the 'v' after Eloise sounds harsh
Beatrix Helene - very pretty
Beatrix Lenore - don't like it as much as Beatrix Helene, but not terrible
Anna Beatrix - Beatrix spices up Anna well
Anna Rosalie - don't like the flow
Rosemary Blythe - heaven!
Gwendolen Eve - very nice
Alice Marigold - Marigold lends some uniqueness to the combo
Rose Mathilde - not something I'd personally use, but it's far from terrible
Eleanor Blythe / Eleanor Daisy - don't really like either combo, sorry :-(

Why wouldn't you suggest a middle name starting with D for Cecily?
vote up1
I find the 'd' sound (in most cases) rather harsh, especially at the beginning of a name. And even though I said Cecily Anne was perhaps too delicate, I think Delphine was going too far in the opposite direction, if you get my drift. The only 'd' name that I think would still sound okay to use in this combo would be Cecily Danielle. But this is all just my opinion.

I really love Cecily, Eloise, Anna, Catherine, Octavia, Eleanor, Clara, Delphine AND Louisa, and for the boys Arthur, Henry, Theodore "Teddy" and Jasper. Great lists. Some really nice combos too. Cecily Delphine, Eloise Vivienne, Eleanor Daisy, Arthur Frderick and Henry Jasper stand out as my favourites. Lydia Rosemary is lovley too.

August -awesome
Ezra -like it
Luca -ditto
Jasper -I met a baby named this yesterday. It has such charm.
Morgan -only on a boy. =)

I'm an Oscar Wilde fan and Vyvyan was the name of his son.
I quite like it. I don't usually like off-kilter spellings, but that one just looks so cool and it has history, so I feel my liking it is somewhat justified. On a terrible note, I met twins named Ashlyn and Aislin once. The parents were pronouncing it AYEZ-lyn. Seriously. =)
