I saw a post a few a days prior entitled "Bias" and it mentioned a preference to names attributed with femininity.
I too would admit that I tend to like softer names--and living in the US - many of my favorite names are softer - and are popularly categorized with femininity. However, I love many Germanic names too--which do not happen to align with softness - without reference to gender.
Adrian (Ari / Aria / Ria)
Leonard (including all similar variants from Lenny to Leo to Leigh to Lea to Leah)
Elijah - someone else posted this
Elisha
Some catholics might align with Mary, Marie, Maria
Courtney (with Marie as a middle - see above)
I do not find Jacob / Jake handsome or soft - but I like the names.
How about the 'Joey' form of Joe / Joseph
Wren - someone else mentioned this during the weekend
I posted the following literary quotation from Shakespeare's Pericles one or two years prior.
Certain folios of Shakespeare's Pericles substitute "p'r'etty" for "petty"; yet Dionyza, the Character that decries the deed--no deed at all, this is figurative language, which the wrens descry is a villain or villainess - and attempts to belittle them while she cajoles her husband. The songbirds, despite her description, are noble.
"Be you one of those that thinks
The pretty wrens of Tharsus will fly hence,
And open this to Pericles. I do shame
To think of what a noble strain you are,
And of how coward a spirit."
