Girls:
Zenobia
Octavia
Carmen
Nadezhda nn "Nadia"
Melisande / Melusine
Ceres / Circe
Verity
Rosamund
Zipporah
Artemisia Felt like completely rehashing my girls' top 10 with more names that are just on my mind atm, my old favourites were starting to feel a bit stale. Carmen might be slipping down the ranks finally, I'm just not as in love with it as I used to be (for a long time) I guess... also I've gotten a lot of negative feedback on it recently, which might actually have affected me more than I thought. I'm also feeling frilly atm I guess.
Just missed off Celaeno, Alcyone and Tanith, liking all three of those quite a bit recently. Meredith maaaay be edging on the list this month too.
ETA: Wulfrun. Might be getting a bit obsessed with Wulfrun.
Boys:
Oscar
Balthazar
Jasper
Mathias
Dmitriy
Ozias
Wolfgang
Nicholas / Nikolai
Gabriel
TychoAdam's gone because I can never use it for (positive, but still) personal reasons, where it would look like a weird honouring situation. Dmitriy has replaced Aleksei, which I still like but am a bit bored of. Bored of Magnus, so Wolfgang is back... again, it's nice, but I'm just a bit over it atm. Isidore is gone for the same reason, Nicholas / Nikolai is back. Sort of liking Tycho atm. Sean is back, in honorary 11th place.

I definitely prefer Ceres with the soft "s" rather than hard "k", but... I think the best way of explaining it, is that with a long 'eez' ending, it sounds like "series", and I prefer (or naturally say) a shorter vowel on the second syllable. Not that the long 'ee' way isn't beautiful, I just heard 'series' one day and couldn't unhear it.Nice to see you like Nadezhda too! It gets a mixed response from people, but it's one of the names that I'm pretty set on using in one way or another, and if I ever have a daughter it'd probably be the one to beat for the MN place.

Zenobia is top of my list at the moment, there's something very cool about it.
I've always loved Inés, it's one of my go-to MN options but it's lovely as a FN too.
Ginevra, Araminta and Marguerite are all very nice too.
Xanthippe is just neat.Wolfram is cool, but I prefer Wolfgang... less sheep-y? Still not a bad name.
Anselm is bookish, medieval and serious and I support that entirely.
Virgil could grow on me, it's half... almost cool and half... not cool. I can't decide if I like it, it varies from day to day.

Do love Samuel. It got kicked off my list because there's just sooooo many Sams, but it's cos it's a good name I guess.
I also like James and Jack, they're good solid names.I also like Louisa and Beatrice and Eleanor is a nice name too. Susanna is my name, haha, so I don't know... never had a reason to dislike it apart from it slightly annoys me (as all our own names do) because I hear it all the time. Can't say it's the best name out there, but it's served me well, and here in the UK it's one of those names which is in the sweet spot of familiar/known and not too unusual, but not really common, so I don't know tons of other Susannas. I get Susannah a lot (more common than Susanna in the UK), and can never decide whether that 'h' makes the name look better?

I like Ginevra.
And I spend a lot of time thinking about Oenone and how / whether I could use it. Ultimately I conclude it gives me the same vibes as Iolanthe, but it's more out there, and I asked my mother if she'd mind if I named any future daughter Iolanthe... after she struggled to say it, after coaching her, she said 'never do that to your daughter' :(. Same vibes. So neat, but -could- I? I'm pretty sure I saw one in real life not too long ago, it was something like Oenone, so may it's more useable than I think.
Ianthe is neat, probably better than Iolanthe, but I prefer Iolanthe's clunkiness.
Sophonisba is weird and clunky and esoteric, I do like all that.
Zinnia is just sparkly and eye catching. It's just so attention-grabbing.Love Arkady.
Sufyan is also neat.
Anselm is nice in a solemn, studious way.

Hah, love it. I always get ideas from you!Today it's Éleuthère. Love it!

SufyanThere was a boy a few years ahead of me in school who pretty much everyone had a crush on, he was tall, athletic and got a place to study medicine at Oxford. I haven't heard the name in years, it's very handsome and fitted him well.

I love how someone's favorites can give away where they're from - I saw this and immediately was like "this person is from Finland or at the very least Scandinavia!" lol

Ooo I love when people do combos for this, I love to see everyone's favorites hahaI like:Pandora Beatrix Fae - oh my gosh this is so magical and pretty!
Artemis Valkyrie Clio
Evanthe Sylvia Cherry - not the biggest fan of this whole combo but it sounds good together, and I love the use of Evanthe as my bff growing up is named the similar Evanthia
Beatrix Lavender Margot
Morgana Hermione TempestPhoenix Arthur Blaise
Ptolemy Orion Sage
Lysander Atticus George - Lysander is in my top 25! I love when I see this pop up :)
Nikolai Emrys Altair - Altair is one of those names I'd absolutely use because I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed games, but I feel it might be weird unless the father is from that area.
August Lysander Wolf - love it

MineMy Top 10 changed a lot this past month - to the extent that my long time #1 names were actually dethroned:Adam Raphael
Wesley Sebastian
Nicholas Rowan
Finn Gabriel
Donovan Leo
Malcolm Elliott
Dominic Edwin
Theodore Bennett
Ezra Nathaniel
Julian Francis
&
Zinnia Florence
Sabrina Lily
Miranda Violet
Felicity Charlotte
Juliet Aurelia
Andromeda Sylvie
India Seraphine
Ursula Margot
Ella Josephine
Persephone RoseIn the past, India has felt like a colonialist, tone-deaf name to use (especially since I'm White). I asked a poll question regarding this, and didn't get a huge turnout... but basically 80% of self-reported Indians & South Asians on this site didn't find India as a personal name offensive at all. I wondered if I had perhaps been prescribing a reaction for Indian people to the name, without actually listening to them.Adam & Zinnia usurped the #1 spots from Nicholas & Sabrina, respectively. Also, this is the first time Ezra has been in my Top 10, ever. Same with Andromeda. They sort of... sneaked up on me. Theodore, Ezra, Zinnia, Andromeda, India, Ella, and Persephone replaced Bennett (now a middle), Luke, Charlotte (now a middle again), Amalia, Alexandra, Eleanor, Viola, and Magdalena. Still not 100% sure this is the "master list."I did not participate in July 2011's thread, so there is no comparison to make this month. :-(

Love Adam Raphael... wish I could ever use Adam, but it would be weird for me to use it and I need to accept that, haha.
Also really love Nicholas Rowan.
And Finn Gabriel too.Zinnia Florence isn't my personal style but it looks very cool, ditto with Andromeda Sylvie and Ursula Margot.

Persephone RoseThese are all lovely combos. I especially love Wesley Sebastian :) I get what you mean about certain names like India. I actually grew up with several girls named India, and they were of various ethnicities but none were Indian, but all were born in the 80s before there was really big talk of appropriation. I often wonder if people with names like that feel self-conscious or worry if it might seem offensive now. It's definitely colored my view of some of my own favorite names.
