I've been liking Jamie on a girl more lately, and seeing it amongst the general style of names on your list really makes me see it a bit differently and like it even more. I think of it as one of those pleasantly dated names, but alongside the likes of Georgia, Charlotte, Sophia, Louise, Rosalie... I can see an elegance in it, too.It has entered my incredibly short list of names I like for both genders. But I still much prefer it as a nn for James. Can't get much more handsome than that. :)

Philomena! I've loved her for a long time, but she always sneaks by somehow. My favorite combo with it is Philomena Alison. I don't know why it is perfect, but it is. Just popped into my head one day out of the blue.Errol Franklin... swoon.
vote up1
Hmm Philomena Alison. You know, that works really well. Maybe Philomena needs a less ebullient middle name, something to temper her frill. But not something humdrum or too classic. Alison fits that need nicely!

And I love your boys list, except for Silas, which I hate. Love Leander and Torsten especially!! Wow, Torsten is really getting some love on these boards.
vote up1
Madelief is so adorable, but I haven't been liking it as much the past year or so. Maybe that shall change soon. Also happy to see Bevan on your list. He doesn't get enough attention.
vote up1
I like seeing Margery and on this list. I also like Augusta and Florence.
vote up1
Very "turn-of-the-century" lists. I like Agatha, Augusta, Eugenia, Florence, and Octavia. Neutral towards Ernestine, Henrietta, Margery, and Winifred. Hate Mildred. Such an ugly sound imo. I like Ambrose, Arthur, Peregrine and Zimri. Neutral towards Alfred, Algernon, ernest, Horatio, Rudolf, and Ulysses.Ambrose has been growing on me a lot lately since I started reading Fables. It's the name given to the Frog Prince, who is one of the main characters and who is pretty much the nicest guy in the stories. Great character.
vote up1
So nice that somebody loves Mildred!
vote up1
I love Mildred. Wish DH did. :-(
vote up1
Oh, I don't understand why so many people dislike it! It means "gentle strength," which is quite possibly the perfect meaning for a name, and it's so starchy and rich that you can sink your teeth into it and feel completely sated afterward.

Why did I not know you also love Fionnuala? Is this a recent thing? This makes me happy. Yay for Norman, too!And Jochebed has caught my eye a few times lately. I like how it feels very humble and shy (ooh, and purple), but you definitely notice her.ETA: Do you have an Jochebed combos? I tried making some and it was really hard! But I found a few I like. Just curious.

Fionnuala isn't really recent, I have always loved the name, but it has just recently become a top ten worthy name. I just love the long "U" sound.Jochebed I hadn't even heard until a couple months ago when I met a girl with the name (Jochebed Enid, kind of clunky but it flows well with her last name). I just fell in love with it.

Boys:
August Patrick - handsome, I like it. Kinda southern to me for some reason.
Elliot Ambrose - Geeky but handsome.
Anderson Connor - omg I thought this said Anderson Cooper at first and was about to ask if you were a big fan of his lol I like it though
River Malachy - Not a fan. River is ok but I hate Malachy
Donovan Jude - Cool. Feels like a cool mix between American and English naming tastes.
Zachary Tiernan - This looks like something my sister would name her kids haha It's cute.
Lewis Ciaran - I like this one a lot! It kinda surprised me. I like this spelling of Lewis over Louis.
Ronan Peter - I like both names but this combo feels weird to me
Easton Zachariah - Another one my sister would like. You're not my sis are you? lol
Brody Vincent - Meh. Not a fan of Brody but Vincent is ok. This combo feels weird for some reason.Girls:
Matilda Isobel - I love Isobel and hate Matilda, but this combo is pretty.
Anastaszia Millicent - Love Anastaszia and hate Millicent, but I don't like this combo.
Georgiana Evangeline - Love this bunches! So pretty! I love Georgiana, but I love it as a mn, I have tons of combos with it lol

Bonnie Elise - Very pretty, love it. There's something very classic about it.
Lucy Meadow - Cute
Daphne Juliette - A bit too cutesy imo
Meadow Caroline - I like this. It walks the line between cute and classic very well.
Alice Cordelia - Gorgeous! Love it bunches! I think I may need to borrow it lol
Katherine Victoria - Another beautiful one.
Penelope Iris - And another! lol
Matilda Juliet - Eh, not a fan of Matilda at all. I think it's just such an ugly sounding name. But I love Juliet.
Sophie Emmeline - So soft and pretty. Very feminine.
Milana Katherine - Exotic yet classic. Love it.
Elise Violet - Dainty and pretty, has a kind of Victorian vibe that I like.
Daisy Coraline - Cutesy, but not overly so. Pretty.
Henry Alexander - Very handsome and sophisticated.
Arthur Barnaby - Love it bunches! Barnaby is a major GP of mine, and I adore Arthur. This is such a handsome combo.
Jude Alasdair - Handsome, but a bit too rich for me.
Milo Felix - Very cute!
Jonah Gabriel - Prefer Gabriel Jonah, but I like it.
Linus Edmund - I like Edmund, but not Linus. Linus sounds so snivelly to me.
Oscar Sebastian - I prefer Sebsastian Oscar, but I like it.
August Rhys - Handsome and a bit eclectic. I like it!
Syler Augustus - Love Augustus to pieces, hate Syler. Sounds pretentious (more than Augustus lol)
Malcolm - cool

So many Biblical names! I like a lot of them. I've really been leaning towards Gavriel lately especially. I've loved Gabriel for a long, long time, but I like the small different Gavriel brings to it. It feels a little rock n roll lolThe only ones I'm not a fan of are Ariel (prefer for girl) and Heshel, which I just don't like for some reason. It's weird for me, like it's hard to say or something. I don't know why.
Also, I'm just now realizing you're MariaNikolaievnaRomanova lol Hi!

All pretty/handsome.
Except for Malachy, which I loathe lol That's part of my "unholy" trinity of ugly male names, along with Mordecai and Malachi. They all sound like death to me, no offense.
Also, I love Euphemia, nn Effie. So cute!
vote up1
Funny, I also loathe Mordecai and Malachi. It's that "kai" ending sound. The "kee" however, is very pleasant, so Malachy and Malachi are on opposite spectrums. :)
vote up1
Shoshana stands out in your girls list, is there a story behind your love of that (as opposed to Susannah or Susan)? Oh and I'm currently browsing through royal geneologies on Wikipedia and coming across a few Euphemias, it's so neat to see them interspersed there.Ieuan is sure fun. Look may, no consonants (almost)!
vote up1
No real story behind Shoshana. I just love the sound of it. It's like jewels in your mouth. And it has this strength, warmth, and color that Susannah, etc. lack for me.Haha, I never even noticed that Ieuan is almost all vowels.
vote up1
I love Virginia! It was my favorite for over a year when I was about 16. I also really like Elizabeth. I want to like Margaret, but I know one who is horrible. I hope I will meet a nice person named Margaret so it can grow on me because it's such a lovely name.
vote up1
One thing I like a lot about Margaret is that I can picture it on any sort of person. I can picture a mean, bitter Margaret, although would prefer not to since I love the name. :)

vote up1
Meredith has been creeping up my boy's list methinks. I've always liked it, but he's making a run towards the top. Can't get much more handsome and smooth than him.I also love Eleanor, Edith (why don't more people like this? sooo cute), Ingram (another I've been thinking about lately), Bram, Crispin, Colin, and Iain.

Ofelia!! I keep trying to promote Ofelia over Ophelia lol it's just so much prettier imo.And Peredur! Omg I like a lot of your names. The only ones I don't like are Olga, which sounds like ugly to me, and Aadolf, because of Hitler. I go back and forth on how much I like him, and you've caught me in an upswing.I like Aloysius and Hugo, too. And Polly really is pretty adorable.

Edurne! I completely forgot about Edurne in my post. A recent favourite that may have a chance to crack my Top 50 sometime in the near future. Hm...I also like Lyra, Genevieve, Bram, and Leon.

Theodosia! I love seeing that name. I like pretty much all your names: Edurne (very interesting!), Eseld, Belen, Artemisia (so lovely), Ourania (thanks for introducing this to me, I can't believe I've missed this), Jacomina, Lucan, Bedivere, Augustus, Gawain, Francis, Gabriel, Remy and Bram.

Ohh pretties! Love Eseld, Genevieve, and Belen especially, and Edurne, Lyra, Ourania, and Jacomina are beautiful too. From your boy's list I love Eben, Augustus, Francis, and Bram, and you did kind of talk me into Bedivere, too.

Lyra & Genevieve are so pretty. So weird to see Lucan on your list! I named one of my stuffed toys Lucan when I was just a little kid. I have no idea where I got it from (in my case, I was probably playing around with Lucas and came up with that, I know I liked Lucas when I was a kid). I had NO idea it was an actual name. I thought I just made it up.I like Francis and Gabriel, and I love Remy to bits. A friend of mine just named her son Remy.

I like Adelaide and Florence. I used to love August on a girl, but not so much anymore. Levi is nice, too.

I now squee inside when I see Grover on your lists. :)I also like August, Boaz, and Prosper, and am coming around on Oscar.

I love Florence! It just missed out my top ten. Eirlys is cool, I really like the sound of it. Other names I like are Elodie, Adelaide, August Oscar, Levi and Ezra.

Xanthe, Elodie and Sylvie are awesome! Eirlys could become a new favourite of mine. August used to be a fave of mine...may come back one day :)

I like Xanthe, Geneva, Sonnet, Elodie, and Adelaide. I'm never sure how to say Alcyone but no matter how I say it, it just isn't pretty coming out of my mouth lol and Eirlys is different. This is the first time I've ever seen it... And - I'm not meaning this as an insult - but a lot of your girl names sound like city names. I feel like I've been to half of them, which was a weird feeling lol
Yeah, August! I am looking forward to having a little boy one day named August / Augustus and calling him Gus haha Or maybe I'll have to settle for a dog, I dunno. But I am determined to have a little Gus one way or another! It's just too adorable.I also like Prosper and Felix. Your boy names list is so Shakespearean! I love it haha

Thanks :)Alcyone = Al-sie-oh-nee. I know it's a bit of a mouthful but I'd shorten it to Alcie and I love the meaning, the story behind it and the fact that it's the name of the brightest star in the Pleiades.Eirlys is a recently new discovery for me too.Yes, Geneva, Adelaide & Florence are all cities, but they are also people names as well! May be worth noting that I wouldn't have 3 daughters named Geneva, Adelaide and Florence, but it doesn't stop me loving all 3. And Geneva is one of my favourite cities, and a place that is special to me, so that actually adds to its appeal.I fricking love Gus. If I had an August (strong chance, it's a long time favourite) he'd be Gus half the time. And yay for someone else actually liking Prosper.
