[Opinions] November Top 10
Glad I got to post this because I've been looking at some of the responses from recent months and I guess we sort of sometimes forget that we should explain things to newer posters. In 2008, Spartz posted this for the first time, saying she wanted to see how her taste changed over the course of the year. And it was just sort of kept up with in the years that followed.
So, in reply to this post, you are supposed to post your top 10 favorite names of right now. Your personal favorites, not the top rated names on your PNL or anything else. And then you can find your post months/years on and see how your taste has changed.
(also, it was originally top 5. Do whatever you prefer, or whatever gives your list consistency. But someone actually got sassy last month when Spartz [the starter of the whole thing, hello] posted it as "Top 5" and I just think you should know your history ;p)--2011:

I don't know why Christian doesn't get much attention. Maybe because it's fairly popular? I could be wrong but I think we discuss a lot more common female names than common male names.I agree with you, it is a very strong name. I actually love most Christ- names. I think they have a lot of presence.

Your girls list seems rather gutsy (except for classic Rose), at least in my corner of the world! I like it, it's just precisely those names that would make my friends and family scratch their heads. Rose and Minerva are my favorites.Of your boys, I really like Emrys and Aloysius. Aloysius is one of those Saints names that's usually on my middle name top 10. Emrys is so refreshing. It goes with the current trends but is a substantial name that will persist after its purely trendy counterparts have evaporated.

I would love to have triplet boys and name them that. Except I would hate to actually have triplet boys. Or triplet anything, but especially triplet boys. I'd just like to name them. I feel like the names go well together.

I loved it at 15 too! Forgot about it for years, and it fell out of favour cause (I originally said it Sor-sha, and hated the "proper" pronounciations when I found out what they were. It was Sor-sha or nothing for me. But a couple of months ago I fell in love with it again, this time with one of the "proper" prn. I say it Sur-ka or So-ka now, but I like Sur-a-ka too. Love love love.Only thing thats bugging me is I can't come up with a neat simple nn for it. Sor just doesn't cut it. I'm an Aussie- we have to nn everything ;)

Ignatius -fell in love with this one this year.

GIRLS: the top three girls remain the same, but I've done some major shifting of the rest of the list. Elisabeth moves up a few spaces in spite of popularity; I can't seem to let go of that classic. I might drop Margot next month just because it's "my" name. (Then again, I might not...)1. Astrid

Ari -fun and kind of timeless in one.

Storm -I have a dark love for many word names, including this one.
Kekoa -this would be cool used on the right person.
Morgan -like it
Zia -awesome. I know of a boy named Zian.

Ada = Aid-ah Kinborough link! It's medieval! But it has an -o ending, which makes it feel pretty cool and modern and I like it.
Might be worth noting that names my boyfriend has agreed to liking are ranking higher-- they were on my list before, but knowing that he likes them pushes them higher. Names agreed upon are Helena (always number 1 though), Ada, Ari, Daxton, and Griffin.

I started out talking about the ones I like best but I somehow ended up writing about them all.Fionán - love it spelled Fionnan. One N looks strange to me.
Kieran - spelled Ciaran. Kieran looks like it could become trendy quickly, if it isn't already.
Miles / Milo - Miles makes me think of someone who is mean. Milo is really sweet though.
Finch - interesting! I could see myself using it as a middle name, but not a first.
Shealyn "Shea" - eh, not my style.
Murray - not a fan; because of an unfortunate association, it makes me think of a dumb jock.
Cyril - I only think of the Cyrillic alphabet, unfortunately (and end up pronouncing it wrong.)
Lennox - not my style; makes me think of MacBeth.
Vyvyan - I would normally criticize such a spelling, but since I know it's from a literary source, I totally understand the appeal.
Darcy - Mr. Daaahhhrcy! a guilty pleasure for me.
Runner Up: Monday - I'll just say I am not a fan.Girls:
Eliza - sweet and spunky.
Estella - not a fan of Ella names.
Finja - interesting. I'll have to think this one over.
Georgiana - dislike; seems snooty.
Mabel - warm, friendly, and inviting; love it.
Juliet - I go back and forth on this one.
Viviana - I prefer Vivienne. It has more zest.
Magda - shortened for of Magdalena? Hmm. I could get behind that...
Siân - Welsh, and exotic but restrained. Lovely.
Philippa - never understood the appeal.
Runner Up: Frances - Frances has been growing on me. She's lovely.
