Love to see Hollis getting some attention!
Also, I have never thought of Grace on a boy, but I think I like it!We are using Makisig as a middle for a boy, which is "refined grace" from kisig which is "grace" and the prefix ma which denotes something is greater (in Tagalog). So... Grace as a first name is a logical leap for me... and I approve. I really like your style. Firuzeh is especially loves, as is Jorah, Zerah and Sparrow.

I also think Cordelia, Phoebe and Penelope have an old-school charm that is irresistible. As for your boys, I like them all. Desmond would be quite a refreshing name to meet, and Silas, Julius and Elias are just classy. Asa is great and simple as well.

Sonnet! Gosh, I wish I had the guts to use that name in person. I just love it so. Your list is quite pretty for girls. All of the names are just very feminine and light to me. Elodie and Vivienne are also favorites of mine, and I definately appreciate the spunkiness of Xanthe and the softness of Avielle too. Your boy's list is a little more michevious than the girls, and I like that. Griffin, Grover and Felix have such a great life in them that I would love to meet one in real life.
vote up1
I'm not sure whether I'll have the guts to use it in person either. We'll see! I think it's a spunky and sweet word name with a beautiful origin (little song? aww!) Thanks! I'm a little bit addicted to French girls names so thats probably a big part of it. And spunkiness is the exact thing that Xanthe brings to my mind too so thats perfect. My boy list I think has two distinct styles (where as my girl list is all over the place!) There's the grumpy old man list (Grover, Felix, Oscar, August) and there's the trendy modern list (Griffin, Deacon, Boston, Hudson) with a few obscure and not so obscure biblical names thrown in for good measure (Ezra, Boaz, Zimri).I can't use Felix with Xanthe so don't count on me for that one, but Griffin and Grover are both definite possibilities! If I had a boy tomorrow, he'd be Griffin.
vote up1
Great list! I especially like Avielle, Griffin and Ezra
vote up1
Jean-Benoit is lovely! Dashiell was on our list for a long time too. You have some lovely names here!Leto is especially adorable I think. I also like Viviana and Finch a lot.

You have a great style when it comes to flow. The pairings you listed just have an elegance to them as a whole that I appreciate. I love that people are turning to Fae or Fay again. I just really like that name. I alos like that you poffered Beatrix instead of Beatrice in your last combo. I much prefer it, though slightly less than Beatriz. Valencia is just fantastic, too. As for your boys list - it has such personality! You used recognizable names, yet they have an edge of either awkwardness or over-the-top usage that I adore the combos!Caspian Sherlock Walter? There are the obvious pop culture connections with all of these names, yet the pairing of them is quite unexpected but perfect. I won't comment on them all, but I assure you my comments would have all been positive.
vote up1
My favourites are Florence, Clara, Evanthe & Lyra, and Arthur, Walter, Felix & Emrys.
vote up1
Mars is awesome. I alway use it as a nickname for Martin on my own list. From your boys list Abram, Caspar, Ephraim, Woods, and Soren stand out.Theodora, "Theda" is great! I'd have never thought of Theda as a nickname but it's really nice. Gwen, Allegra, Maris, Ursa, and Fern stand out from your girls list.
vote up1
Sincerely like your list. Caspar, Gordon, Ansel and Roger? Yes, please! They have such personality, but a classiness about them too. Great choices. Annabess in interesting, I don't think I have seen it before. I find it quirky but still kind of country-chic. I like it. Maris, Ursa, Glenna, Delta, and Fern are right up my ally honestly. My realistic style is a lot different, but secretly, I wish that I could use names with such great earthy presence and imagery. I do have to say that I almost like Theda as a name better than Theodora though. Great list!

is Ena pronounced ee-nah or enn-ah? Just curious. I like the simple beauty of many of the names on your list. Lilac, Joy, Maeva, and Rosalie immediately convey such lovely images, that they are sweet as names. Alba is just one of those strong but elegant short names that I adore. Rhone is interesting! I am not sure I have seen it before, but I really like it!
Atlas and Wren are great names as well.

I like both pronunciations of Ena and am torn. I think I'd probably use EN-a. Maybe. EN-a sounds a bit more "grown up" to me. But I do like EE-na quite a bit...Thanks so much for the nice things you've said about my names!
vote up1
I couldn't quite decide which I prefer either. I think I lean towards EE-na, but only because it reminds me of Emer... which is EE-mer. Sometimes spelled Eimear too. Ena is a great alternative.

Alba doesn't get nearly enough love!
vote up1
I just love the Italian & Spanish meaning! It's so pretty. I'd definitely use it myself but I can't use both Sylvie and Alba, and I love Sylvie just that tiny bit more. So I need other people to use Alba for me ;)
vote up1
If you don't mind me asking, why can't you use Sylvie and Alba? Is there a general association I'm missing? I like them both as well.
vote up1
No, it's a personal association that would be completely irrelevant to anyone else. It's a couple I know quite closely whose names are variants of Sylvie and Alba. Either one alone is going to look like I've named my kid after one of them, which I wouldn't be, both were favourites before I even met them, but to use both would be way too much, and everyone would know it.So unless you know the same couple I do, it's not a problem!
vote up1
I was wondering if I had missed some association somewhere that I should have known about. I'm glad I didn't.That's a tough situation about the names. I'm sorry you can't eventually use both!
vote up1
Nope, you're all good to go :)I'm ok with it. I'm more bummed about the fact that my mum used Oscar for her cat. It was the one boys name I could actually see myself using, but we can't have an Oscar-the-person and Oscar-the-cat in the same family. Also I can't use Xanthe and Felix because I used to babysit siblings named that. One is a coincidence, two is a copycat. It's just the way it works out!
